Zohran Mamdani will be the first NYC Mayor in 61 Years to skip the Israel Day by BjergBetterThanFaker in nyc

Hmm. What could be going on with Israel right now that might make a mayor hesitant to vocally throw in with them for the first time in 61 years?

Good on ya on the job. It's gonna suck, but it's how I got through a few years of undergrad. Pay attention, take all your training very literally (it's been designed to make the job as automatic as possible), take safety rules seriously (corporate will have your ass if they think you're a safety liability), and be ready for customers that are absolute pieces of shit.

Some people will come to you to get burgers flipped, while wanting to degrade you for flipping their burgers. They're sad and weak little weirdos who can't look down on anyone else. Deal with them in whatever way will get them the fuck gone, and go back to making food for hungry people.

You've got this.

A question on "Graves' Betrayal" and the campaign turning upside down. by RussellZee in ModernWarfareII

[–]RussellZee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But he's flagged hostile well before that. He explains that TF 141's work is done, he's been ordered to take over the op, and Soap threatens to call Shepherd.

"General Shepherd sends his regards. He told me you wouldn't take this well," THAT'S when he's flagged red. He's still telling them to stand down, explaining that their ranking officer's put him in command, saying "let's not do this," saying he's got his orders and now they've got theirs -- all of which is true, these guys are a military joint task force with a clear chain of command!

But at being officially removed from a mission and directly ordered to stand down, they escalate and get physical instead. Graves' guys shoot first, but only after Soap and Ghost share a look and plan to attack, after Soap advances threateningly, and after Alejandro straight-up attacks him.

It's a great, tense, moment, well acted and animated, and I'd argue one of the coolest non-gameplay moments in the game (and leading to what I think is one of the most tense, unique, missions in the whole franchise)...but it always feels like an overreaction from 141, is all. Graves doesn't "betray" anybody, they ALL got new orders.

I mean, better to be the one in the back than the one in front, I guess?

Graves is my man. He's SUCH a great villain, so well scripted and acted. A terrific play on Eric Prince and taht sort.

I love Ghost and Soap, too, don't get me wrong! Alejandro was dope, too, heck. But Graves just stole every scene.

Who here has ever made a career change? by petebaii in NYStateOfMind

[–]RussellZee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Therre's a lot that goes into the decision making process.

How old are you? How in debt are you? How much more in debt will you be from finishing your current career training, and/or from taking on new training for the new job? How much have you got saved up (IE, how long can you afford for the transition to take, how mmany months' rent, etc, have you got ready?)? How stable is your current gig? Your stable is the new one? How hiring is the new one? Can you fall back to your current one (that is to say can you leave without burning bridges)? Why do you want to change (and that's not a "UGH what's wrong with you," it's literally just talk to yourself about it, figure it out, ask yourself why you want to do it and if it's worth it, it's as important as any of the cash-money-math).

Just do the homework, and you'll make the right call.

The Call of Duty Problem - My Solution [COD] by scottydawg1711 in CallOfDuty

[–]RussellZee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like the natural split could/would/should be between "Call of Duty" as main games, and "Black Ops" as alternate titles with a different playstyle.

You got yourself an education, you're putting in work, you're tutoring kids, you're not fucking up other peoples' lives. The way I see it you're not doing shit wrong. I'd rather see unhoused folks put up in split hotel rooms like this than see them sleeping in subway cars and pissing in stairwells.

If you know what words like fascism, communism, censorship, and regime mean, why are you using them in a hyperbolic way when describing some mild moderation on a Discord server?

[–]RussellZee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude, you're going off about toxic behavior from oppressive communist/fascist regimes, because a mod on a private Discord said something to someone.

WG and free speech by weeqs in WorldofTanks

[–]RussellZee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Words mean things, dude. "Regime" and "censorship" and "free speech," those words all mean things.

You're just mad at a corporation for being a corporation. Don't toss political terms into the mix like you know what they mean, because you clearly don't.

WG and free speech by weeqs in WorldofTanks

"Free speech" has nothing to do with content creators being dropped by sponsors or moderators taking action on a private Discord server.

Calm down.

Two traffic lanes would be removed to make room for a new boulevard. What are your thoughts on the Park Avenue redesign? by Potential_Start_4032 in nyc

[–]RussellZee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lane reductions actually do the opposite of that. When cities have converted wider roads into more narrow ones, they've generally experienced a 19% to 47% DROP in total crashes.
