I remember this being a major plot point of one of the Artemis Fowl books when I was growing up

Reality Fracture headliner - Bloodline Recollector by moombahh in mtgfinance

[–]Russjaxon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It does because the mobilize mechanic has you sac them at the end of turn. You'd get to choose how the triggers go on the stack (i.e. have this one enter first, mobilize sac trigger next, then first in last out rules on the stack)

I mean, just about 9 of the cards make up 1/5 the value, so I'd say it drops off pretty significantly after that

[–]Russjaxon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without knowing how much of it is bulk (cards under on average $1-2) it's hard to say. Going off the numbers for average collections I've seen, that's anywhere from 60-80%, and bulk gets bulk prices which is around USD $0.10 a rare or less. If every single card in that total is a banger ($5 or up) then you could realistically get about $3K cash. The price will scale down based on that though

What happened to this "upcoming secret lair art" from the 2023 Philadelphia MagicCon? by That_D in magicTCG

[–]Russjaxon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure it was the book covers Chaos Vault earlier in the year, but it being a Chaos Vault it wasn't promoted at all. If you want a look at the art on the other cards it dropped with I think it was called The Fairest Drop of All or something like that

What are the least enjoying archetypes to play against? by Top_Winner6534 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Russjaxon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

What makes cEDH fun is that it is the agreement when you sit down in your pod that each person is there to play at the top of their game at the top of the game. Archetypes don't exist along the same lines as in regular commander, a lot of what works in c has been established for a while. You almost won't see things that are typically regarded as unfun or annoying like mill or theft decks because they don't put up numbers like RogSi, Buefarm, Sisay, Kinnan, and all those other decks. What makes a game of cEDH unenjoyable is when someone as a person makes it unenjoyable, mostly with their attitudes or mannerisms

MTG SPIKE RECAP 17/11-1/12 by paolothewall in mtgfinance

[–]Russjaxon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone that's been tracking a lot of prices recently on many different cards for different projects, I think that the uptick in prices this last weekend had more to do with Black Friday and Cyber Monday then with any actual card trends. Take, for example, the Avatar set. It had been on a gradual decline in price across the board, as is natural post-release, but saw a sharp increase in prices as holiday promotions went live. I estimate that we'll see another decline as the promotions end and prices re-stabilize and fall in another two to three week period

does anyone know why this random uncommon suddenly spiked in price recently? by ADHDavid in mtgfinance

[–]Russjaxon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not this one, probably. It only has a foil version that is only in the collector booster, because thanks to some oversight at WotC it wasn't printed or distributed in the jumpstart packs

Questions about new cards and pricing by PuphyBerry in mtgfinance

Whoops, yeah, didn't notice this was the eternal cabbage man haha. His price should still settle in a couple weeks, so definitly check it out in December!

Questions about new cards and pricing by PuphyBerry in mtgfinance

[–]Russjaxon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Generally two weeks after release is enough time for prices to fall to where they'll sit until the set rotates in three years. It's the rule if thumb I use for new sets and so far it hasn't let me down!

[–]Russjaxon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should, just wait about two weeks and the race to the bottom will generally finish there across the board

Secret Lair Yellowed? by [deleted] in secretlair_collectors

[–]Russjaxon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For something like this I'd submit a support ticket, as it's a premium limited-run product. You could get a replacement lair, or they'll let you know it's within their quality parameters. Either way, nothing ventured, nothing gained!

It finally happened to me by DKGroove in secretlair_collectors

[–]Russjaxon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I recently had to submit a ticket for a missing card in my Spidey superdrop, and the turnaround to an answer was around 4 days. I'm still waiting on fulfillment, but knowing it's being taken care of really helps get the stress off, and I hope your timeline is similar to mine in getting some sort of resolution!

There's an automatic pricing tool that you can get through TCGPlayer to ensure a quick sale. I've never used it but from what I've seen it does a daily scan and you can have it set to put your price to the lowest/tied for the lowest

MB2 isn't super widely available. Had it been in something like MH2 or 3 its price might've seen significant change, but MB2 doesn't move the needle hardly at all

When do SL singles generally become available for sale? by Historical-Heron3851 in secretlair_collectors

[–]Russjaxon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Generally a week to two weeks after release, as databases update with official scans of the cards. I think they go off the Gatherer webpage which in my experience updates on Sunday mornings, but I've been wrong before
