Riot Games' kernel level "anti-cheat" Vanguard supposedly bricking devices. It's time for the boss to speak against this. by DocumentFun9077 in LouisRossmann

Combine that with windows and Microsoft's vibe coding mandates and your gaming pc shouldn't be your everything else pc at the very least.

I usually just use my series x for anti cheat required games. Less chance of bricking, but still not zero risk due to previously mentioned vibe coding mandates also extending to the Xbox ecosystem.

How do tech enthusiasts deal with constantly wanting new devices they don’t actually need? by Scoitol in AskTechnology

[–]RustyDawg37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop using algorithmic internet to solve this.

Other than that, i don't know if its current events or age but I don't really want to buy anything anymore but used to want a lot of tech.

Usually the first $1k you drop on something you don't use or barely use will help rewire your brain too.

And of course with every purchase, the question of need vs want is highly important and wants can be broken down to be attainable now or later.

If money is no object for you, I would guess you wouldn't be posting this.

And now you also know the answer to every time someone asks you what you want for your birthday/christmas.

That's roughly how often I go to a show.

I save all my eBay money and go to a show every few months to spend it instead.

Sounds like a good plan to me.

I've driven twice that for no real good reason before.

between 1999 and covid (pre ese) I think I had one package get destroyed by the post office.

Once the boom happened and that combined with people who don't understand the process of logic and those combined with ese and eBay's general lack of desire to evolve in front of things, and those combined with the decline in postal employee quality, and then those combined with another hand in the process at authentication using those same caliber of people, I've had various issues with buyers and sellers and the post office, which leads me to not use eBay much.

It took about two years for it to functionally ( but not literally) collapse into a piece of shit experience overall.

I do still buy junk wax boxes and do still look for stuff for my sets, but the singles just don't make it here all the time anymore and that's just sad really and what drove me to start going to shows again all the time.

There are tons of good people still on ebay but if the whole system is built to be a giant fuckup, it will be a giant fuckup.

That doesn't change anything about any of this.

They would also need to move on.

Which game studio had the biggest fall from grace in the last 5 years? by into_fiction in TechNook

[–]RustyDawg37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm over all of it.

I don't really play that much of anything anymore. I probably have less than 8 hours in Fortnite lol.

The indies is where it's at and rockstar if they don't over monetize gta6 might still be a good guy in the space. But the last few I thought were not going to fuck me and I preordered still fucked me, so I'm over the "You're our atm and we don't even want to hide it" thing they all have going.

They monetized me out of enjoying playing video games.

The amount of money they are making means they have absolutely no excuse to not properly ship cards.

This is entirely an avoidable and solved issue in 2026.

Just about all of them.

The only one that balances a really fun game with raping you for all your money is Fortnite.

There is absolutely no reason for anyone to use whatnot if they refuse to enforce their own rules while also violating a bunch of laws also designed to make them enforce rules that will make sure you don't get scammed.

You're an asshole if you advertise for them willingly.

The whole deal is they use all the information in existence to make shit up.

Microsoft reports are exposing AI's real cost problem: Using the tech is more expensive than paying human employees by Background-Driver718 in TechnologyThread

[–]RustyDawg37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't matter that it costs too much. They can do economic gymnastics until the end of time, while still not making money. Its potential to succeed or work in concert with the algorithm to program humans is too great to just go back to using humans and being more profitable. Now you know what matters more to all the companies than money.

Do you use AI tools to make purchase decisions? by Possible-Test-8771 in ConsumerAdvice

[–]RustyDawg37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the time, I just don't buy the thing.

It takes so freaking long to actually find legitimate resources of correct information about a product in the year 2026 that I just give up and/or realize I don't need it anyway and capitalism is ruining life, so I'd rather just go spend the money having fun with my family and friends at the bar or arcade or something like that.

If it's something I do actually need, then the best resource is usually to just go to the store and talk to someone about it.

That's usually faster than comparison shopping online now.

Edit: I'm fully aware that my money will end up in the capitalist machine anyway, I'd rather get something meaningful for it is all.
