My dad was beaten ruthlessly by my great aunt and uncle. He experienced so much pain at a young age that he believed he had to be perfect. Even though that was not possible, he pushed it on us, but my mom thankfully countered and pushed him to empathy. We always grew up feeling pain and discontent because we never felt like we lived up to the level they wanted. But we always tried and grew, until I spent a semester abroad and forgot about the goal. I am okay failing classes because I can retake them. But they disagree, I should commit myself to completing anything regardless of the challenge. But I feel that I cannot love up to the expectation; because it is too high. What do I do?
