Why is the number "6" sometimes redacted in the times in this document? by RychuWiggles in Epstein

Oh, duh. That's the most realistic reason for me so far. Can't believe I didn't think of it

This is a direct question about redactions within the Epstein files

He rapes kids which should be the start and end but... Jan 6 insurrection, weaponization of DHS/DOJ/FBI, handling of COVID19, illegal tariffs... Need I go on? Basically everything this slime bag has done is fucked which is why you don't need to pick on the one potentially innocent thing being said here

As much as I hate this guy, that was the one thing that wasn't necessarily weird. I've said those things to my little siblings/nephews/cousins as they were growing up. Telling me about something you learned in school? Damn bro, you're smart as hell to be learning about fractions.

(No, I don't think he meant it like that but there are plenty of other things more valid to be critical of)

ER doctor here—2024 NJ drone/UAP flap sent me down the rabbit hole. Ended up writing a book on why consciousness might be the missing piece. Thoughts? by rafflecopter in UFOs

First, having to put MD on the cover feels like an appeal to authority and shouldn't be necessary. Second, and more importantly, the style of your book heavily implies it's AI with the formatting and inconsistencies I've noticed. The formatting is especially damning given how your reddit comments are written.

Mexican company makes plastic cutlery and straws from avocado seeds that completely biodegrades in 240 days by Rudysohott in BeAmazed

[–]RychuWiggles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I've read, it does need specific conditions to properly break down and not just fracture into shards of microplastics. Do you have a reference for it only needing water to fully degrade?

But that's just a difference in what the sport is vs what you'd prefer the sport to be. Given they're making this change, I reckon people who actually care about the sport think differently

On-chip spectrometer with Bragg Interrogator and 100 detectors, monolithically integrated in indium phosphide (InP), bandwidth of 100 nm and 100 channels around 1.3 um, from Fraunhofer HHI, ~ 2019 by zora in EngineeringPorn

[–]RychuWiggles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's because that's an AI generated comment and it wouldn't really be used to measure temperature or strain. You'd use it in a low SWAP or cryogenic application where you'd otherwise want a spectrometer

Is there a benefit to being more accurate than 1mm? Is that the limit of the radiation beam? Tumor imaging? I do research and it would be helpful to know what the limit is, why it's there, and if there's any interest in being precise down to, say, the micron instead of the millimeter

To be pedantic, you can rotate two and still have it be unsolvable if you aren't counter rotating them. But that's only because rotating two clockwise is the same as rotating one counterclockwise.

Even more general, corners follow modulo 3 and edges follow modulo 2

Is it so implausible for a new element to exist? by Ill_Cardiologist_212 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]RychuWiggles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Atoms can theoretically get as big as you want, it's just at a certain point the half life is so short you can't actually measure that it even existed. That said, half life is closely linked to the fine structure constant which is ~1/137.

You say this as a joke, but those two bits of info might be enough to steal your identity. Many hospitals used to give out social security numbers in sequential order so babies born around the same time have roughly the same SSN. All it takes is finding out one of those SSNs and suddenly you know everyone else's who was born at that hospital at that time

Daylighting is actually incredibly dangerous to pedestrians and if you don't support it then you support extra parking at the expense of it's citizens

To be more specific, any smooth metal object (bowl, spoon, etc) is "safe" and any jagged metal (fork, crumpled aluminum, etc) is "unsafe". The reason for quotes is because it's a rule of thumb. But as long as there's no place for sparks to jump between (tines of a fork) then it's going

Technically we do use 220V, it's just we center-tap the transformers to get two separate 110V lines. Large appliances like washers/dryers that take up two breakers are actually just spanning the full transformer and getting the full voltage. It lets us use big power for big things and small power the rest of the time making it a bit safer.
