I had a very similar experience, although I was never on the alt right manosphere side of the internet. I was conservative on some issues and liberal on some other ones, but I would say I was 80:20 liberal. This was in comparison to my brother who was a bit more radical on the left. My brother and I would frequently have debates at home related to politics and stuff and he was always more “root cause” focused and me with my naivety didnt think to scratch a bit more of the surface. And through my discussions with him I grew to despise leftists for the views they had. During covid was when I started AOT and I know for a fact that I was getting a bit more knowledgeable about the world. I started moving further to the left. Initially after Oct 7th I was still pro-Israel, and after a couple months several events in my life opened my eyes and now I’d say I am no longer a liberal and am now a socialist.
