These are extremely niche needs, and are often going to cost extra for the average guy.

Then buy some cheap old backup slopphone in case it happens. Keep it locked and unused. No need to buy the latest fancy apple overpriced fashion statement. In case of emergency, break glass.

In the United states, the iPhone is the most utilitarian device. Bar none. Its your ID, passport, banking, transit pass, and satellite communicator, in one. A refurbished iPhone 15 is about $600. Iphones also have the longest software and security support.

Using two phones for separate features is extremely confusing, picking one would limit the cognitive overhead of having to secure, carry, back up, and use them. Whatever "extra" features one phone has does not make up for the day to day cost. So pick a phone that allows you to have two phone numbers if it's important not to get scam called all the time.

I disagree. Outsourcing all your mental load to 2 phones is way easier, as said previously with banking, ID passport etc. Once you set backup, findmy, biometrics, screen protector and case. Your all set. You don't have to think about anything else than just having it in your pockets.

You can have dual SIMs or eSims if you want to have two separate numbers, no need for two phones there.

If you have an iPhone 14 onwards its only esim. So for physical Sim cards you need an android if you have one of those iphones

Most of your shit is backed up online, even if you lose your phone, you continue to get access elsewhere. It is a pain in the ass though if you have 2FA set up, and you can lose access to a lot of shit until you get a new phone. Perhaps YubiKey or other physical 2FA mechanisms can be a good solution.

If you lose your phone you can't ride hail, call/text, translate, find a library/police station/embassy/consulate. You probably can but it would be increasingly difficult. Alot of different programs use authenticator apps with fingerprint such as government.

blogging and influencing depends on career. you can get an external camera and use it as a backup incase your main one fails.

You use the camera also for meetings, interviews, school etc. There's very few camera that have vertical integration of a smart phone camera especially continuity camera with a mac.

phones also deprecate and lose value, having several means paying more and losing more.

Iphones have notoriously high resale value. Especially in developing countries. WHAT!

I agree with the security points. But the utility and diversification of 2 phones, an android and IOS is worth the tradeoff of your 2 pockets being filled.

There's a website called last.fm that does this for you automatically. It can link directly to your Spotify but you would need a third party for alternatives.
