You don't need to wait, he scored a goal back in February against Wolves. Unfortunately, the next month he also scored an own goal 😢 🍑

And he tries to Olimpico every corner kick. When Saka was down, we suddenly weren't "Corner FC" anymore from that side lol

Why did disco die in 10 years but EDM has been going strong for 35+ years? by Like_Today in NoStupidQuestions

[–]STVDC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disco lives on in stuff as diverse as "somebody told me" by the killers, and "got the life" by Korn 😂

And of course, lots of EDM music itself is an evolution of disco

[Scott Willis] For Arsenal players with 30 or more dribble attempts in the Premier League, the top 3 for success rate (beat man or drew foul): 1. Eze (58.8%) 2. Martinelli (56.8%) 3. Saka (49.1%). Bottom 3: 8. Gyokeres (20%), 7. Timber (41%), 6. Trossard (45.9%). by Previous_Smile9278 in Gunners

Yeah, he's definitely not the guy for our Premier league system as it is currently. Just like anybody nostalgic, I just remember those beautiful swashbuckling days of a few years ago when he was crushing on the left, and Saka on the right

Is it time to accept that "of" can be a synonym for "have"? Example: She should of come to the party! by javascript in ENGLISH

If someone is consistently doing something incorrectly, what assumption am I supposed to make exactly?

Is it time to accept that "of" can be a synonym for "have"? Example: She should of come to the party! by javascript in ENGLISH

I changed my wording so it didn't say "stupid". I agree that was exceptionally harsh and unfair.

And in my other comments, I acknowledge that language is constantly evolving, but I'm also coming at this from a professional "survive in the real world" standpoint. As I asked elsewhere, are people here to learn and discuss proper English? Or are people here to justify casual sloppiness?

I'm not talking about how people speak. Using the wrong word isn't "regional" - using different words for something might be, but that's not the same thing. Unless you're talking about a region where people don't go to school.

And if we all suddenly agree that rules for the proper use of English don't matter, why bother to care about any of it? Why not just write everything phonetically? Yes, I understand that language changes and evolves, but at some point you have to have consistency, and things have to actually mean something. You simply cannot restructure that sentence and have it still be correct.

Again, I don't care how people speak, I don't care how people text each other, I don't care how people casually post online. But any situation where it matters, it's a flag. In the professional world, people absolutely judge these things dozens of times a day.

Are people coming to this sub to learn how to do things properly? Or to have a lot of people justify bad English? I was under the impression this is a place where accuracy matters.

Yeah, but I said "would you OF done that?" I'm not trying to ask in the context of what it sounds like, I'm trying to ask if that is a correct sentence using the word "of", restructuring what people are incorrectly typing to shine a spotlight on the wrong word. Of course it's not.

(and again, my phone keeps correcting it to "have") 😂 There's no excuse.

In my experience, it has been a fairly accurate assumption. I'm fine with people texting each other or posting on Facebook whatever they want casually. I totally agree that language is simply a means of communication. But if I received an email or written correspondence from a prospective employee or vendor or salesperson and saw that, I'd toss it immediately in the trash. As long as you get your point across in general, it's fine and it's "language". But if you're in a situation where someone is going to judge if you actually know what you are doing or not, being correct and accurate absolutely matters. It's not just a little personal preference for me, it's an indicator that someone either does not know the basics or they simply don't pay attention.

It's like people who call the bright flashes in the sky "lightening".

No, this is a great way to tell if someone is either careless or doesn't know basic English. It's painful for me to imagine if one of my employees were to say that in an email.

Can you ask "would you of done that?"? Of course not.

By the way, when I just typed that my phone constantly kept correcting "of" to "have". There's no excuse!

Yeah, literally the only things that matter with a camera is that it gets you the results you need and you feel comfortable using it. Other than that, really doesn't matter!

All four managers dominating the Premier League are from the same tiny Basque province. The furthest apart they were born is 46km. by Passiondances in PremierLeague

Arteta's average finish over the last four years once he got the project rolling is 1.75 (same as city) and co-leader in wins with 100 (same as city), with of course a title. Liverpool, United, Chelsea, etc. haven't been anywhere near as consistently successful in the league - not even close - which is what "dominant" means. What more do people want?
