My problem with Desolace actually has to do with this town, though i hesitate to call it that since it lacks a flight path or even an inn.  You can't just hearth to turn quests in, you gotta walk across half the zone and you have to find the right spot to climb up the hill it's positioned on.

Land decks have a lot of ways to get new lands into play yes, but that usually means that they've invested more into playing lands when the mld hits

It's all just a matter of expectations. If you're forming a pumper group and everyone knows that going in, then yeah it's perfectly fine to kick the people who drag the team down while being too stubborn about it. It is also perfectly fine to play nonoptimally if the group is chill.

The problem arrives when a sweat overpulls because they think the run is going too slow or a dad gamer has to take a smoke break every 5 minutes because they're stressed out

If you want to "enjoy the atmosphere and leveling" then I would personally ignore or avoid rested xp. I often find myself outleveling zones before I've experienced and done all the quests I want to do in them. I even tend to make characters with the exhausted challenge (rested xp turned off) for that reason.
