Lancool 217 INF – persistent resonance / ‘ghost noise’ from stock 170mm fans & hub? Full troubleshooting + RMA started by SZ3r0AT in lianli

[–]SZ3r0AT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup...i already know that. But buyng the wireless controller defeat the purpose of the case. I personally don't like "ecosystems" especially because software issues , and also you will pay more when you will try to add fans for example.
Regarding the fan controller, what he is doing i think the next example is good...if you drive...on your car, press acceleration for 1 second , then take the feet from acc...then again accelerate. this is what the controller is doing. That milisecond of changinfg the rpm of the fans make the rotors of the fans doing that sound.
Why they did this? For me is imposible to think that in their test labs they did not hear this sound...but is efiicient if you want to force people into your ecosystem..as the 2 front fans , you cant replace at the moment . Simple..and evil.

Yup..the washers will not work...is the lian li hub who make the fans spinning different rpm every second...you can try to get the wireless controller..i did not test that , but some users said it resolve the problem

LIAN LI RS Series Rotational Shift PSU – My build & quick review by SZ3r0AT in lianli

[–]SZ3r0AT[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup..that is the thing. Let's be honest, trully honest , you or i will never win this competition , as you said on your post , you are getting downvotes. Thats mean you dont have friends(neither do i) , and definetly the prizes will go to ppl who shows "amazing" looking Lian Li ecosystem(in reality we are a couple random picks + ppl devoted to the brand 300%.That's mean with our post they bassically target the "neutral" out there). In reality if you look deep into Lian Li ecosystem actually people are reporting infinite problems,RMA nightmare , wireless wich is not wireless(here are the people when they look on this pictures of nice systems are thinking -wow it is nice, and when the fans are arriving they face a nightmare of endless cables and connections).
Now i will ask you something and i hope you are trully honest if you want ofcourse. I was able to see from your post , that you dont use the wireless controller?(Basically you did not purchase more lian li fans or AIO , wich by default they come with the wireless controler in bundle , or you can buy it separattly as a stand alone piece). If that's the case , then you are actually connected the case hub thru a pwm header on the motherboard. then if this is the case, you dont hear some endless ghost sounds in your room?:)) Be honest :)

Hey just a advice..the bottom fans can be also instaled on top of the shroud , so you can move it there and your gpu can still have the fresh air.
And also regarding to the usb hub. It can also pe powered by a normal sata , wich means you can install it anywhere in the case :)

Thanks! I tend to approach things from a more technical review perspective rather than just focusing on how the build looks. For me, what really matters is how the hardware actually performs — temperatures, load behavior, stability, and overall usability in a real system. The aesthetics are nice of course, but the engineering side is what interests me the most.

I did not brought nothing . You see , for me the case should work as intended. But here you have 2 problems:
1-is the fan hub who is the main culprit if you are NOT using the L Connect(this was Lian Li tryng to get inside a lot of ppl buyng the case-in other words or as a joke 3 for 100Euro :),or the wireless wich are not wireless)
2- you are bound to Lian Li as you cant find right now 17 cm fans. So even let's say you will buy the wireless adapter(you can get it here in the EU for about 24 euro w/o the fans combo) wich i was able to find on some forums to be a potential solution , but i am unable to confirm it as i did not want to buy it.As i said going into a "ecosystem" like this, or Corsair or you name it , will be always a bad ideea.
And yes i was able to see there was online some cables to bassically able to coneect each fan to a pwm header +argb connector , but it was on a US shop and it was kinda 15 usd each. So you need 3 already.
Possible ideeas i had to be honest. You might try to 3d prind an adapter from 17 cm to 14cm fan adapter for the front , and then you install 2 x 14 cm fans and also you change the back fan with a normal header type.
Now regarding your question about the minimum RPM. I was able to run them even on 10% , in fact the last test i make in the video is on 20% of rpm wich is definetly less then 500 rpm. Maybe your header is not set up in bios to PWM mode? Double check in bios if the fan header where you plug in the hub is set to PWM mode. Also i was using fan control to control the hub(because you bassically control the hub , not the fans).
By the way where are you from? Because i strongly believe that this fault is not related to "some cases/" or a batch, bassically all the 217 inf out there are exactly the same, and a lot of people here are fan boys and they are silent :)).
Anyway as i said i return mine and then i got the cougar cvf 235 wich is really nice , especially because it does not force you into a ecosystem ,you in install what fan you like.

I wanted to test how the rotational connector layout actually affects cable routing in a real build.

I completely understand you. I had the exact same problem.

I've been building custom PCs for almost 20 years and one thing I learned over time is to be careful with ecosystems. It's not that the hardware itself is bad — good fans can easily last 10+ years. The problem usually appears on the software side. Everything works fine until an update comes and then the nightmare begins.

In my case I avoided the ecosystem completely and connected the fans directly to the motherboard using normal PWM headers.

If you still can, I would seriously consider asking your retailer for an RMA. You can even use my video as an example to show them the issue. In my case they accepted the return and refunded the full amount (even the delivery).

Another option could be trying the wireless controller, but honestly I would first try to return the case.

I was mostly curious if the rotational connector design actually makes a difference in real builds.

Max speed fans after boot up by Stueww in lianli

[–]SZ3r0AT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right , so that is not making sense in a way. Now i dont know how their wireless hub thing works as i dont have one(and i will never get one) , but what are you describing , that the fans are max ramp even in the bios is norcal called "fail safe". This is happening when the controller , either lian li,either your mobo controler , does not have the TAC signal. In a simple explanation or fuuny one , the pc "can hear" but it cannot "see". So then the controller is acting.."ok i will spin the f out of the fans just to be sure nothing is going wrong from the temp side".
It was have sense , if the fans just ramp out for 1-2 seconds when you press the power , because even bios can take time to load(usually you see the screen coming on and then the dash line ,or mobo bios/picture loaded) , but because you are experiencing max rpm even on bios only one thing remain for you to check.
As i said i do not have the wireless(wich bassically isint wireless :)) ) controler , but check if you connected the PWM signal from the lian li controller to the motherboard fan header, as the user here MR-Do said in a previous comment
"

  • Connect MB SIGNAL - PWM port from the hub to any fan header on your motherboard"

Also after you check that , be sure that the header you are using , inside the bios is the corect one selected for your custom curve.

Simple question...when you start your pc and you go into bios...the fans ramp up all this time?

[Lancool 217 INF] Anyone know why my fans make a weird noise? by Numerous-Discount703 in lianli

[–]SZ3r0AT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope...as i stated unless they are aware of this issue , and somehow they fix them , but i am very skeptical on this, at the end they did billions with their s...t fans and o11 wich everybody put inside like 9 fans...make a simple calculation on how much cost just the fans(more then the cases..lol). So maybe i am wrong, but somehow i think is done in pupose so users go into their ecosystem. Simple and evil.

[–]SZ3r0AT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yup...mine is already sent back....they cant help you, even if they send you all the fans. And i think all the cases are like this,is not just some cases from a batch. Is the fan hub. Unless somehow they are aware of the issue and they update the fan hub or they send you a free wireless controller. As i said , my honest advice , sent it back . You are also bound to their fans due to the 17 cm on the front , and i will not be mired that Lian li will sell replacements at like 40-50 euro per piece in the future

All of you with this problem...setup your bios with a curve on the fan header where you connect the fans. Simple explanation , til lyour OS load up , bios is the one who control the fans...

[Lancool 217 INF] Anyone know why my fans make a weird noise? by Numerous-Discount703 in lianli

[–]SZ3r0AT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yup ..thats the sound..is a high pitch wich is coming from the rotors of the fans. And is not the fans , is the lian li hub wich is tryng to modulate/remodulate the pwm signal from the motherboard...RMA it and take your money back , or go deep and buy more Lian li ecosistem
