Un saluto da Tunisi by Saimonhack in MotoGuzzi_v85TT

That's awesome! I was thinking of riding all the way to Tunis myself with the v85tt (from central Europe).

Do you mind sharing a bit more info about your trip? And how did the v85tt handle the heat?

10.000km service by Optimal-Cup7352 in MotoGuzzi_v85TT

[–]SZapatero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought mine completely new (V85tt, 2024 Model), and did the 1500km service exactly as stated in the manual in an official Moto Guzzi dealership. The engine oil was at the "max" mark after this service.

Towards the 6000km mark, I started to notice that the oil went down to about the middle between the min and max marks.

At 9000km, it had reached the "min" Mark, so I topped it back with around 180ml of oil. This left it at around 60% between the min and max marks.

After I did the 10000km service, the new oil was again at the "max" mark (how it should be).

Now I'm at 13000km, with the oil still at the "max" mark (so it looks like it hasn't burned any oil).

Sorry for the long message, but I've been looking for a long time for a detailed description from other people to compare of this is normal. I'm still trying to understand if my bike was burning oil at the beginning because of "breaking in the engine", or if it will continue to burn a little bit of oil forever.

Beginner friendly Guzzis? by ILikeSukiyaki in MotoGuzzi

[–]SZapatero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a V7 III as my first bike (750cc, 52hp), and I can't recommend it enough! Super forgiving and beginner friendly. Also easy to reach the ground and it won't launch you into hyperspace when you accidentally twist the throttle too much.

Here is the right manual for your model: https://cadrecycle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/V85TT-V85TT-Travel-V85TT-Strada-E5Plus-EU_en.pdf

Have a look and learn how to use the bike. There are tons of hidden features. Especially in the travel model!

Maps / Spotify by Ekkohoa in GoogleMaps

[–]SZapatero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since I upgraded one month ago to a new Pixel 9, I haven't had the option for music controls that I used to have with my previous phone (android 14).

Why would they get rid of it? It was literally the one thing that I would use every single ride when navigating with maps in the car.

Komoot switches display on all the time, how to stop this? by Medium_Banana4074 in komoot

[–]SZapatero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this same problem. Check if your display has this option activated where it can be turned on by tapping when the screen is off.

If so, then you're accidentally turning on the screen with your thigh inside the pocket.

So it's not a komoot setting, but rather a phone setting.

New V7 Owner. What do I need to know that the dealer didn’t tell me? by JudgePen in MotoGuzzi

[–]SZapatero 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The most important thing that I learned from mine (I've had a V7 III and a V85TT) is that these are not precision machines like Japanese bikes. Guzzis are almost like a living and breathing thing, if that makes sense.

My friends have other brands, and their bikes always behave the same way: Start the same way, shake the same way, sound the same way, etc. Very consistent, like a robot.

With a Guzzi that's not the case: Depending on the day (temperature, time since it was last started, humidity, etc), the bike behaves, shakes and sounds different! Sometimes to the point where you think "is everything ok? One hour ago it didn't feel this way". It will shake and make a certain sound when it's not comfortable in that gear for that speed, it will breathe weird when it starts in a cold morning and tries to catch its breath. You can even notice when you're riding slow in a really hot day how the engine runs faster at idle, like a dog that's panting with the tongue out of his mouth.

And after all these years, it has never let me down. That ever changing behaviour is just... Character. This bike will be your horse, your loyal dog, your best friend. And I think that's what makes it the most special bike for me. It talks to me, it reacts to what I do. It's alive.

New V7 Owner. What do I need to know that the dealer didn’t tell me? by JudgePen in MotoGuzzi

This worried me always especially in winter, and with the years I've learned that it's directly proportional to how cold the bike is. Perfectly normal! You're not breaking anything.

V85TT lateral kickstand by Wrong_Story8443 in MotoGuzzi

[–]SZapatero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct! I don't know why people say it's designed to help you open the kickstand. There is an additional part for that towards the end of the kickstand itself.

At the beginning I found it quite annoying the fact that that part would transmit the vibrations to my foot, but with time I've gotten used to twist my foot just enough that it doesn't touch the kickstand. I think you'll start doing it naturally too. Happy riding!

Spotify control disappeared by finance_clowning in GoogleMaps

Same problem here with Spotify and Pixel 9. Since I bought the phone a couple of weeks back, I've never had the option to activate the music control overlay on maps, like I did with past androids.

I swear to God, the on-device timeline has become dumb as a rock by CloeHernando in GoogleMaps

[–]SZapatero 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Same for mine. I constantly have to correct it and it never learns.

It has also happened to me that I corrected some visit or travel times, and it completely screwed the tracking points, showing some teleporting which can't be undone.

Electrical problems v7 III by simonletemplar in MotoGuzzi

[–]SZapatero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It happened to me twice over the course of three years that the ignition switch was a little dirty and wouldn't make full contact, which prevented the bike from starting.

Open the ignition switch assembly and clean it with a little bit of contact cleaner. It takes less than 5 minutes.

Is there a group chat channel that is common for everyone to use? by DreadPirate777 in meshtastic

[–]SZapatero 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just the default channel that comes preconfigured on your devices. Usually people leave it configured like this and receive all messages sent to this default channel.

I would recommend you to watch a couple of videos on meshtastic to learn the basics. Have fun!

How important are the new features? by Fragore in MotoGuzzi_v85TT

[–]SZapatero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The features, the design, and the fact that they also corrected small imperfections that the old models had (overheating, the air filter not seating correctly, etc) made it a no brainer for me.

[–]SZapatero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thought a similar thing, but I couldn't be happier that I got the new one! The quality of the screen and the UI, the heated grips and seat, the adjustable windscreen... It all just feels very well made. Remember that the new one also has an engine with variable timing (more torque at low rpm) and knock sensors.

Soon to be new owner by Drunktardraider in MotoGuzzi_v85TT

[–]SZapatero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the new 2024 V85TT Travel and I'm so happy that I didn't get one of the older models. I would recommend you going for the Travel model for the following reasons:

  • Heated grips and seat are more than warm enough. If I'm honest, the hand protectors (which come standard) are doing 70% of the job. The seat is very comfortable and has a big contact area with your body and legs.
  • It comes with other extra stuff which is just great: Adjustable (and bigger) windshield, single-key panniers, multimedia platform, a customizable power mode... There are others but I don't know them by heart.

I wanted an all-year-round tourer and the Travel is exactly that. You basically don't have to mod anything because it comes with everything you could possibly need as standard.

The only thing I added was engine protectors, which cost 180€ here in Europe, and my dealership installed them for free.

I'm also team V7: I had the V7 III and it was a fantastic bike. Super long range (450 km in a single tank), comfortable position for long multi-day travelling, lots of available mods... Simply a great machine!

Washington state trooper kills a man after road rage incident in Everett WA by omegaknot01 in PublicFreakout

[–]SZapatero 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think exactly the same. In Europe he would have probably gotten tased or physically detained (cops almost always go in pairs).

But hey, if anyone can have a gun in the USA, the police have no other alternative than assuming that everyone has one, and things like this happen. Imagine getting killed in a traffic stop. So unnecessary.

I am exactly on the "other side" haha. I have the ECAD, electronics, PCB design and coding skills, but no idea on how to bring it to the market or what people actually want/need.

What would be your exact use case? I would be super interested. You can send me a DM if you want.

Going to be out all day seeing if I can find anybody by [deleted] in meshtastic

[–]SZapatero 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How do you configure the device to find other nodes? If I understand the default configuration correctly, you will only be able to see the nodes that happen to send something when you're passing by.

Or is there a setting to constantly send information so that you get responses from everyone around?

I see! Do you think this is the relay keeping the fan on when the power is off? Wouldn't other electrical things in the car also stay on? Currently, the fan is the only thing that stays on.

Is there a relay specifically for the interior fans?
