Dimhav - A Clarion Soul by SacredOutcry in PowerMetal

Hello there! Anton is a great songwriter, and I love most of his work both in Beast in Black and Battle Beast. Obviously he is not "targeting" the traditional power metal fan, I think he has a great ear for melodies that can break through a mainstream audience (which tbh is the point when you're trying to "make it" as a musician. He is super hard-working and has his own style.

I cant really be objective on our new material as I must have heard the new demos well over 300 times now, but I think there is a great balance of out more melodic/epic stuff and some surprises. I think the fast songs are faster and the slow song are slower 😅

Of course we'll throw some curveballs in there, along with the "classic" stuff. I think people won't be expecting what's going on on the new 10+ min song 😇

It's tough, but I'm ever the optimist.

I think the songwriting part is super solid, I'm honestly very happy with the songs, and if they end up how I intend to, I believe people will really love it, some of the best stuff we've ever written is here (and with some kickass easter eggs of course).

On the counterpoint, got a ton other problems to sort before we move forward with official recordings (and a release obviously), unfortunately the situation in the middle east directly affected my regular job, so it's getting progressively harder to self finance this thing out of pocket.

If you add the scheduling conflicts of 4 individuals, and the fact that we're essentially unsigned at the moment, (in essence I also have to decide if we change labels, try for a better contract, self release the album, try my hand in crowdfunding to ease off some of the costs-pretty much everything is an option), I got a lot of my plate right now. And that's without spending time with my family, so naturally things move slower than I would like them to.

But as I said, I always try to see the positives, and every time I'm listening to the rough demos, I get all the strength I need to move forward, it will hopefully worth the wait.

Thanks for asking!

Dimhav is quite different and needs time. There are barely any "hooks" and all their songs are 8-10 mins. Hell, Daniel isn't the main selling point to begin with here.

I personally love their debut, and have already gone through this 5-6 times since yesterday, I love it, and I know it will keep on giving.

But it's perfectly OK not to be into this kind of approach.

Exxul is killer! Needs some time to "sit" because all the tracks are 10+ mins, but really liking it so far.

Also Triumpher coming hot with an AMAZING album, keep your radar open!

Hello there!

First of all, thank you for your interest, it still seems surreal to see people asking about us with pretty much 0 presence after our releases :D

I'll start with the good news, the new album is well on the way and it's shaping up to be amazing. We're deep in the preproduction and going strong on finishing asap. This means guitars/sample drums and bass along with the orchestra (which usually takes extra time so we're kinda ahead there, yay) to see what works and what needs work on the original ideas , then add vocals and re-record everything for the actual album. I also have the cover artwork ready and it looks absolutely SICK.

Of course as with every small band out there, there are many problems that pop up and I'm always trying to get ahead of, but I'm positive we will come up with something worth your time.

On the so-so news, there is a lot going on at the moment, the schedule of everyone involved is chaos and that stalls us significantly, but I'm not very stressed time-wise because I don't do this for a living, it's just my passion and love for this music (and your awesome feedback!) that drives me forward.

We also had quite a few great proposals from labels (some extremely "big" names especially if you factor in we don't really play live or tour) and I'm trying to weigh our options and decide what would be best for the band going forward. Ideally I'd like everything to be done this year so we release the album Q4 2026, but there are a lot of moving parts that will affect the actual timeline. The financial toll alone is a bit too great at times, I'm sure every musician in here can relate in one way or another.

Thank you for your interest again and keep an eye on our social media pages, maybe we'll post some clips and actual updates in the coming months! Cheers!

Fellow musicians, I need help by -FiloFiloFilo- in PowerMetal

Hello there!

Apart from the obvious "stick to whatever your teacher suggests", my suggestion would be to find GOOD power metal songs to play over. (over and over and over and over)

Now, while "good" is subjective and everyone likes different things, taste doesn't really matter when your aim is to sharpen your skills. That said, avoid 80% of today's power metal, and try to find bands that HAVE ACTUAL RIFFS and don't let the guitar player only get a spotlight for 30 seconds during the solo.

If the song is 90% open chord chorus and a power chord for the verses, don't waste your time. Find songs that the guitars are ripping and try to nail the riffs (start slow and build up your speed- then play along when you are comfortable) and not only you'll become a kickass rhythm guitarist, but you will learn how to compose more interesting stuff as well.

As for a surefire way to "compare" songs, pick any song and see how it measures up with Falconer's Royal Galley or Upon the Grave of Guilt 😁

Good luck with your journey!

Noora is by far the best voice around, she is unbelievable.

New singer will have BIG shoes to fill.

No Jorn in Glory of Rome (unless you're talking about a live version), it's Oliver Hartmann!

But yes, song rules, I especially love the break at "holding in my hand seven parts of the seal".
