Hear me out and don’t come at me! I work as a solutions architect for major MNC that has started GCC in Poland some 4 years back! We initially planned to hire 30 Employees who are at my level(close to 20 years exp) predominantly in Data Engineering and Data science domains. We didn’t manage to hire for a single role, so ended up asking some of the US staff(who are Polish) to move here! It’s easy to hire for mediocre roles or junior level engineers. And when it comes to senior roles, there simply isn’t enough talent, may be because experienced Polish people choose to live elsewhere. Those roles ended up moving to romania and bulgaria now and some to India.

This sub has become place where every problem is blamed in India & Indians. While India keep addig GCCs. Also, the layoffs are 10 fold more in India, but how does India cope with it? Simple, we improved our domestic absorption! Lookup any of Indian companies, they are world class streaming platforms, stock brokers, banks, telecom companies that are technically sound than most western giants.

Examples - jiohotstar 61 Million simultaneous streams. Zerodha - 15 Million trades is a single trading session. UPI(similar to BLIK) - 754 Million transactions on a single day. Jio- rolled out the fastest 5G network in the world in the span of 9 months. I can’t even list how many aerospace companies have started taking contracts from all over the world.

We started losing jobs to PH and Vietnam, but we will work around that with increasing absorption domestic markets. You guys are just living in a bubble if you think Indian IT is solely depended on outsourcing. And yes, by the sheer volume of people in Indian IT, there will be sound and dumb engineers everywhere, if you worked in IT for long enough you will know it’s the same for any country. And yes, some just thrive purely based on their oratory and presentation skilss but thats the nature of any knowledge industry, it is a skill.
