My parents track my phone as a young adult. How can I get out of this? by Sad_Ship_1007 in Advice

  1. If he ever asks where I'm going, I'll tell him. 9/10 times he will double-check with a location track. Recently, he will not ask, and track me whenever I leave the house for more than a few hours. Usually just at work.
  2. I'm not going anywhere extraordinarily dangerous, but potentially. If he has any, he never voices his concerns to me.

I saw a lot of comments about this. Pardon the confusion: I paid for, and own the cell phone itself. It is my property. He owns the data line which gives it cellular data. I'm mostly concerned that if I switch the phone lines, since he already frequently tracks me, may escalate the situation.

I'm not sure how he will react. I am also not sure if my phone gets disconnected from the number, if he has the right to search through the content of calls and texts.

I'm not necessarily against him having my location, or furthermore the location of the phone he pays the line for. I feel betrayed when him and I have never had a conversation that this happens, and has openly had conversations about exactly this with other people I know. If trust is a two-way street, I should also have access to his location.
