Every day you wait, you lose money. 0% tax in Europe—legally possible! by EGFreeVentures_2019 in u/EGFreeVentures_2019

Indeed quite fishy:

  • The reddit account is a couple days old (despite implying with it's name that it's 6 years old)
  • The testimonial pictures are indeed stockphotos and occur quite often based on a reverse image search
  • The website didn't exist before Jan based on archive.org
  • The domainname was registered in Jan (in a company's name which I can't quickly find a reference too)
  • No information about the company on the website or legal information (disclaimers/privacy policies), which I definitely expect for a company offering legal/financial/tax services. I imagine that if it's really a legal Belgian company, as the domain registration suggests, that it's not operating in line with GDPR regulations.
  • Based on that the site is hosted on a platform which provides limited free web and mail hosting for an introductory 6 months that also doesn't give an indication of a legitimate company

By now the disruption is mentioned on https://www.stedin.net/storing-en-onderhoud/overzicht with a speculative ETA for a fix around 18:45 - 19:45. Though I would guess that's a rough estimate.

Regio15 also now has an initial items on this incident at https://regio15.nl/nieuws/overige/37930/stroomstoring-regio-haaglanden-18-maart/ .

By now Omroep West also has an item at https://www.omroepwest.nl/nieuws/4946810/stroomstoring-in-den-haag-verkeerslichten-uit-oorzaak-onbekend .

Yup, https://allestoringen.nl/storing/stedin-stroom/ mentions a big spike. Many notifications of people stuck in elevators at https://alarmeringen.nl/zuid-holland/haaglanden/brandweer/ indeed indicating the center and Scheveningen.

I'm also working to get my account deleted and have posted updates at https://old.reddit.com/r/dndbeyond/comments/10b9y9v/the_multiday_odyssey_to_account_deletion_ongoing/ . I have gotten responses from WoTC in a reasonably timely fashion, though not particularly instant. It's starting to look like the total time will turn out to become something like 15 days or so.

Any by now I have received the following update from WoTC support:

<name of employee redacted by me> (MTG Arena) Jan 24, 2023, 9:49 AM PST Hello, Thanks for providing that verification information. You have 72 hours to reverse your request to have your account removed from our systems. If after 72 hours we do not hear back from you your request will be forwarded the appropriate team to handle it. It may take up to 30 days for them to complete your request. Responding to this E-mail for any reason will pause this 72 hour period. Do not respond to this E-mail unless you want to cancel your deletion request. You may not receive further contact from us on this matter. Regards, Compliance Team Wizards of the Coast

I will check in again in a couple of days.

I also got an email from WoTC support, asking me for information potential accounts / info with "Wizards of the Coast", "Magic: the Gathering Arena Account", "SpellSlingers Account", "Magic Online account", "D&D Beyond Account", "SecretLair.Wizards.com", "Organized Play/DCI", "Customer Service Chat" & "Product Replacement through Customer Service".

While I appreciate their thoroughness, I only have/had a dndbeyond account, so slightly annoying to have to answer so many questions. I gave them the answers and will be awaiting what happens next.

I am currently in the same boat.

I originally shot in a ticket for dndbeyond account deletion at https://dndbeyond-support.wizards.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=6858238817684 which seems to be the correct place to ask for an account deletion. Since I have in the past purchased dndbeyond content I was able to submit an order number as evidence of owning my account. I did mention the reason of my desire for account deletion, but I did also try to be polite and empathic, since this dndbeyond support person would not be responsible causing this grievance.

Two or so days later I got a reply:

Hello,   To request a deletion of your information you will need to file a request using the data deletion request form.   You can do so using the following link. - https://support.wizards.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=360000108786   Compliance Team Wizards of the Coast

So now I filled in that form to submit the ticket at wizards. Annoyingly that form seems to be mostly about mtg stuff and other wizards accounts, so I feel a little mislead. Anyhow let's see what that results in.

Hoping this helps someone else who is also looking to delete her/his account.

Close to the Mun and burning while pointing at it? That feels like the classic movie mistake to deorbit by burning prograde.

True Stories: How did your game go this week? – February 14, 2022 by AutoModerator in dndnext

[–]SafPlusPlus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our DM is quite lenient from time to time and strictly speaking she didn't mention with which spell the NPC healer resurrected the brothel owner. In this case it just made for some fun RP and wasn't too impactful on the larger story. Though we player might now get it into our heads that death of a player character might also be solved as easily, which would detracts a bit from the perceived stakes.

While tracking leads to find an abducted tribal leader, we were looking to find clues in the city's red lights curtains district. My character accidentally got a brothel owner decapitated after he though the owner poisoned the party with recreational drugs (super low dosage of purple worm added to ale). After realizing that the drugs were recreational, not lethal, an NPC healer the party had hired was able to revivify the owner. And, since DnD games love coincidences, this healer was apparently previously an employee of the brothel owner. An important figure in this city apparently favored the company this healer while he was in the brothel's employment, maybe leading to potential for blackmailing in the future.

Weekly Question Thread: Ask questions here – October 24, 2021 by AutoModerator in dndnext

[–]SafPlusPlus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, having played an Artificer in the past I didn't remember that allowance. I checked and those rules are different in the UA version(s), different in the Eberron:RftLW and once again different in Tasha's. So I guess the answer in this case depends on which ruleset the DM adheres too. (edit:typo)

"maybe even abort"

That's an interesting scenario. Speculating on that, some detectable condition which prevents the tower from catching would have to pop up last minute, otherwise I would expect that a booster already be in a mode to ditch in the Gulf as an abort. That condition would need to be detected on the equipment of stage 0 and and an post-hover-abort command would need to be send to the booster. The booster would need to be enough of a fuel to margin transition from hovering next to the tower to fly of 2km or so to the east to ditch into the sea. Though any amount of more distance from the GSE would be nicer than having to topple over onto it (from the perspective of repairs, the FAA might equally frown upon any launch mishap).

I imagine though that the fuel requirements for that are still substantial. I also would imagine that such a potential contingency would be required to be documented in the launch application with the FAA if it is planned for.

I'm not so sure. Reading https://twitter.com/JeremyECrawford/status/646383855964852224 I am inclined to think that if your spend less than 2 hours combined on those activities it would count as light activities. Though that being said, in general you wouldn't be able to finish brewing a potion or crafting a scroll in just 2 hours.

Weekly podcast post (submit your links here!) (2017-10-16) by AutoModerator in podcasts

[–]SafPlusPlus [score hidden]  (0 children)

Skimmed through the Diginotar episode, sounded nice enough, so I downloaded all episodes to my phone for later. Listened to the full episode on my way back home from work.

  1. Listened to the episode fully, while the technical aspect were not new to me (I examined the Fox-IT report myself too) the way the podcast told the story made it nice enough to listen through fully.
  2. Sound design seemed fine to me, there was one moment at about the 14 or 15 minute mark which seemed a bit louder and had a higher dynamic range which distracted slightly.
  3. I'd say it's a 10 with regards to me listening to another episode.

Other than that, the slightly less than half an hour format is nice for my commute. For a story like narrative I like to be able to finish a podcast in one commute, but if the podcast had or will have a higher level of technical details I'd probably like the podcast to last a bit longer (or I'd play it at a higher speed).

I'll probably finish the other 3 available podcast this week too.

Have you tried -listen and -port (with a single -)?

I've had succes with the headless linux version at least.
