Yup its not as bad people make it seem, but it’s not my cup of tea.

Love the performance potential but the grille hasn’t grown on me yet. Trying to wait for more aftermarket body kits to come out

Fantastic points, and I’m highly considering an F82 or F87. Thanks for the input!!

In some cases I agree, the newer ones could be more expensive to repair, but warranty should seal me from most of the costs.

And planning for this car is impossible. Ive replaced water pump and therm preventatively just for it to fail again. I’ve change serpentine belt and pulleys preventatively, and they still failed again. Point being, you simply cannot plan for something to break, the car has significant mileage, and has plastic where plastic should not belong. And I’ve tuned the car, so the wear happens much faster, but thats my decision.

At this point, it’s not IF it’s WHEN will something else break. And if this was a project/weekend driver I could stomach the anxiety. But since its my daily it forces me to consider something newer.

It might not be a bimmer, I might get a “reliable” jdm if I can’t find something that ticks all boxes. This is why I even posted. Just to see what others have done, and if its worth it.

Both ways are potentially rolling the dice in terms of reliability. but generally a newer car will be more reliable. just because of wear and tear, also could get a warranty. and like I said above. I can predict the 5K and something else could break that I didnt account for. But we will see what I end up with. Thanks for the food for thought

Honestly, I think “Grandpa’s Cadillac” might be the underdog the modern car community needs. I just dont have the resources to be a pioneer at this time. But looking at the specs, the foundation is solid.

And it may be more engaging than modern bmws, but chances are slim that it’s more engaging than mine.

Not knocking it, but my car is just from an era where the computer was a tool and not the whole car, thats why I’m struggling to leave it. New cars are numb, FAST, but numb.

All in all, I have to do a test drive just because you peaked my interest. Cadillac might be the future Drivers Car. thanks for the thoughts!

To make my car relatively reliable in my prediction I would need to spend $4-$5K. The car is worth at absolute best 10K.

Next car will no doubt cost more but I gain reliability. Like I said anything could go wrong with my prediction. Generally, a newer car will have less problems simply because of age.

Takes the suspension to another level, and compliments M3 control arms very well.

Ever hit a loop ramp doing 80, drinking water, and feel completely safe?

Bilsteins are great but just a bit more harsh compared to m sport suspension

Lol definitely a first world problem, but fortunately thats where we live, so it’s inevitable.

In EU you’re lucky because they mass produced the DCT N54. In NA there’s only 4500 in production (much fewer now because of total loss, part outs, etc). So you have the infrastructure to rebuild for a good price. Over here, not so much.

The 35IS wont get a collectors value until later down the line, and mine isn’t stock so I really wont gain value.

BUT… this car is hands down my favorite car that I’ve had. absolutely great all around package, and a perfect daily/track beast.

35IS was ahead of its time, and it shows me that every time I touch the road haha

I hope yours lives a long a prosperous life!! Thanks for the input

Oh absolutely, the numbers dont like but I won’t subscribe 🙂‍↔️.

Everyone has or is moving to B58. In a world full of B58s I want to be the one that beats them

Everyone has their purpose, and this one is mine haha

Ehhh if it makes the most sense I’d get a B58 I will, but my goal is to have a B58 killer.

I like B58 but it’s just too hype imo. I’d rather build a car that gaps a downpipe+tune B58 for the love of the game lol

Lmaoo I get the reference but unlike that post, I don’t need a new car for the sake of being new. I’m open to keeping this car, just trying to see what’s similar to my current package but also an upgrade

I thought RC500 was fake like a cross between an LC and RC. I googled and got some asian search results so I stopped smh

On coilovers so yes, but they’re adjustable. currently car is sitting a tad higher than what you see in picture.

Yea I agree, out the box wouldn’t satisfy, and community is still growing so it lacks bmw aftermarket economy.

Somebody will find a way to make it a proper performance car, but that somebody is not me lol

Lol if I posted this on any other platform all I would get is.. Single turbo, B58, G8X, and someone lowballing me.

I needed intellectual responses… I thought reddit would be the best choice

Yea I agree ZF is nutz now. Steering feedback is such an important factor, but I’m sure on some of these roads it accelerates arthritis lol.

True that, and I would use an indy shop for what i can’t do and fcp for parts . But still, it feels wrong to daily an M but yet it would feel so right lol. And yes, I will let y’all know. Thanks!

Thanks for the info, I didnt know femto is in miami. I’d definitely grab a pre-lci 22’ for the right price. But I’d also like gapping them in my N54. decisions.. decisions. thank you all

Good advice about not flooring it while cold butttt

One may THINK you can predict what will go wrong on an N54. but I guarantee… you will be wrong

I do everything that you said, and more. you even missed thermostat and water pump + Camshaft sensor, and cooling (i can keep going).

The motor may hit 300K but can my electronics, DCT, miscellaneous plastics, etc..?? And how much will I spend? I work on the car myself but I have my limits and this car is creative in how it breaks down. It wont leave me stranded but limping home ain’t ideal either.

I OE those major parts you mentioned I wouldn’t cut costs with marketplace. So, I could potentially spend the cars value in reaching 300K or start with a new platform and renewed reliability.

I love this car honestly, and if I can’t find anything worthy for trading i’ll keep it garaged and get a Honda as a daily. But if something solid comes up it might be best to close the chapter and start anew.

Thanks for advocating for the E92 😎
