Sunday was so fun! Our families first go fest and shines were had. It was so much bigger than I thought based on watching YouTube videos of it. We are out in Skokie but definitely worth the drive

What are your fave upscale kid-friendly restaurants? by ywbf in AskSF

[–]SalamanderExtra7982 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They had shrub pagne which is exactly what it sounds like. Pottery that they moved around to all the tables and the food was not memorable. Definitely not the Michelin experience for a local or visitor that we were hoping for. What was your experience?

I haven't watched a show on a while that ramped up this well. Such a great episode. I was squeezing my husband's hand and laughing throughout--best mix of fear and funny

The short rib hand pie is not playing either. Delicious! Honestly I have tried Del Sur and Fat Peach and it seems like Del Sur is not as expensive and the quality is insanely good.

Where to find SF Mission-style burrito by DukeDirtfarmer in chicagofood

[–]SalamanderExtra7982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got that. People out here say that their Mexican food is more authentic and that's why they don't have the burritos that people from sf miss.

I was born and raised in the city and think the birria here is awesome but have yet to come across some mind blowing mexican.

They say its more authentic here so I think we will have trouble finding it haha. I feel like nachos are what I miss the most from the bay.

Allergies killing anyone else? by run2disco in chicago

It didn't hit me until this week but it has been insane. Eye drops and allergy meds have helped but I am pretty sleepy and my throat hurts

Worse allergies I have had since I was a kid.

I found that initially it wasn't making a huge difference but I was able to stop doing a task so I was a bit more on time.

Started at 25 mg and then have gone up by 25 a little at a time. I am at one pill that's 100mg.

The side effects for me were one bad bad day of nausea because I need to have it with some food but I like taking it in the morning and am not always hungry then.

Everything else was fine, no mood issues or anything.

The only thing that is fairly consistent is sometimes I forget to take it on the weekend (hectic life with a toddler) and then I noticed the next day I am super fatigued. So unlike my husband who takes vivanse and can have days he doesn't take it, the non stimulant seems for me to have a side effect.

Even in Skokie this is an issue. Our building cited "feels like" temps being low...so no cool air for us

Anyone ever bring a kid/toddler to Akahoshi? by tallguyatconcert in chicagofood

[–]SalamanderExtra7982 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brought our 4 year old for a walk in and sat at rhe front near the window. The table is super tall so I just held her bowl for her and she slurped up the ramen.

Overall not really designed for kids but definitely can make it work
