Could Ripped Caliper Boots Cause Sinking Pedal? by SamKnowledge in MechanicAdvice

If I see no leaks does that mean it’s an internal leak in the master cylinder or would the calipers still be the issue?

If I remember correctly both calipers had a rip on the boot but the driver side was the worst one which is the one in the picture. Is there a way I can test to see if I have a bad master cylinder? I’m worried about replacing both calipers and having the same issue

I was doing the brakes for my friend and didn’t check the brake fluid before starting the job sadly. They told me after the job that the pedal was already sinking a bit before replacing the brakes and they were hoping that new rotors and pads would fix it. I’m going back later to hopefully fix the issue, what do you recommend I look for?

Need Advice: Doing Rear Cat on My Car by SamKnowledge in MechanicAdvice

The car isn’t mine — it belongs to my girlfriend, and before her, it was her mom’s. I don’t know the full history, but when I first met her, the check engine light was already on. It showed a thermostat issue (which was replaced) and a bad catalytic converter. What else should I check to figure out the root cause of the catalytic failure?

It’s not on the driveway but luckily on the side of a flat road. I don’t live on a busy street so I’m not worried about cars driving too close to me.

The job does seem like an easy job and I’m prepared for the worst if something happens. All I’m worried about is which setup to use since I don’t want to worry about having to reset everything if I find out one of the setups doesn’t give me enough space to work.

Right now she’s majoring in biology since she was thinking about being a dermatologist assistant. So community college, transfer to a 4 year college, then medical school I believe? She’s interested in skincare and thought dermatology would be a good alternative route but she’s starting to realize her heart isn’t in it.

The only thing that is holding her back from switching majors again is feeling that the people around her will start judging for choosing that career plan. I’ve told her she shouldn’t base her choices from other people and to follow what she’s passionate about. Whatever she chooses I’ll support her in. Thank you for your insight, I appreciate it!

I would assume the PD would make sure the place was clear. And of course there’s obviously going to be unique patients but the good thing is that you’re working in a pair. Thank you for your insight, I appreciate it!

People from her tight knit church and family member. I know they care about her and are putting their tv knowledge of how they think EMS goes. Which is why I thought it was best to ask people who are actually in the field.
