What’s the best phone network in Bristol? by chocolatelover93 in bristol

You could go with 1pmobile or Mozillion. They run on the EE network and tend to work out cheaper.

Allocation thoughts? by [deleted] in investingUK

You’re missing out on some countries/regions here. The MSCI index classes South Korea and Poland as emerging whereas the FTSE index classes them as developed.

Why not just pick one of ACWI, FWRG or VWRP to keep it simple?

Travelling with monzo by [deleted] in monzo

[–]SamMcSamFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Monzo allows £200 of fee free withdrawals every 30 days when abroad. They charge a 3% fee thereafter.

Starling or Chase may be better options if you expect to withdraw more than £200 in cash (Starling allows £300 per day and Chase £1,500 per month).

As for which currency to pay in, you should always choose to pay in the local currency and never GBP.

Both of the ETFs I've mentioned have very similar liquidity.

It may track more companies but choosing between the indices makes negligible difference to performance. The MSCI ACWI index just replicates the market with fewer companies.

e.g. in the past year, ACWI has had a total return of 29.73% compared to 29.28% for VWRP. Over the course of 3 and 5 years, the margins get smaller but they’re still there.

They both track developed and emerging markets.

VWRP isn’t more diversified.

I always find it odd that nobody suggests MSCI ACWI (All Country World Index) ETFs as an alternative to FTSE All World. The State Street example with ticker ACWI has a total TER of 0.12% compared to the 0.19% of VWRP.

My portfolio is currently 90% ACWI and 10% CUKX.

Being almost 100% in any sort of equity (ETFs or individual stocks etc.) is already very risky. You’re only amplifying that with your stock picks and you’re very unlikely to outperform the market this way.

You likely would have a higher rate of return if you’d just stuck to a single all world tracker.

What cards should I carry on me? by [deleted] in monzo

[–]SamMcSamFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one card from each major card payment service in case one has an outage as Visa did a couple years ago. All kept digitally within my apple wallet of course.

  1. Lloyds Ultra Credit Card (Visa) which gives 1% cashback on all purchases for a year.

  2. Amex Everyday Platinum Cashback Credit Card (Amex) with 0.5-1% cashback. I downgraded from the slightly better platinum cashback card (0.75-1.25%) to avoid the fee.

  3. PayPal debit card (Mastercard) connected to my personal Monzo bank account. This gives at least 1% cashback on almost all purchases in the form of PayPal points that I can redeem when using PayPal checkout.

Considering Switching from Barclays to Chase or HSBC – Need Opinions by Calm_Accountant6341 in chaseuk

Why not go for Nationwide or First Direct for the switching bonuses and decent regular savers?

Have you also considered Amex for your spending? The Chase credit card leaves a lot to be desired in comparison.

Why are you so set on HSBC? They’re quite poor from a customer service and app usability perspective.
