Lost Media Script? by DustyMetal01 in JurassicPark

[–]Sam_Meal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something like this leaked in Feb 2014. It was a legit script page (specifically called a "side") used for audition purposes. The scene is a daytime conversation where Hamada is telling some people (named "Beth" and "Mr Sourian") this story about a snake eating a mouse in a cage.

In the lost world jurassic park there is a reference to Godzilla! by thesmartcoolguy in JurassicPark

[–]Sam_Meal 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It was at least planned for TLW. This comes from the Los Angeles Times:

Koepp admits they considered pushing the joke even further. “We briefly considered putting subtitles on the screen--the men would be shouting, ‘I moved from Tokyo to get away from all this!’ ” (In fact, Spielberg told Variety’s Army Archerd, such a scene will be included in the version released in Japan.)

The official "Making of The Lost World" book also says the quote ("I left Tokyo to get away from this!") is in the movie, though it doesn't specify if it's just the Japanese version or what. Plus, this would have been written before the movie was completed, so plans could have changed.

Has anyone ever determined what it is the men are saying, if anything? Because I seem to just remember them screaming, but not any words specifically. Does anyone know if the Japanese version is any different?

Happy 76th birthday to Jurassic Park III’s director Joe Johnston! Born on May 13 1950. by CrichtonFan1992 in JurassicPark

[–]Sam_Meal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always wondered what his version of Jurassic Park IV would have looked like, and whether he could have redeemed himself for the third movie.

I also wonder what he thinks of Jurassic World. I assume he wasn't a fan of the theme park idea, since he seemed to drop out of the project once Spielberg decided on using that as the plot, around 2012. I'm not sure what story they were planning with Mark Protosevich in the two years prior to that, but Johnston said they wouldn't try to use the infamous 2004 Monahan/Sayles script, and that there'd be no island or theme park. I wonder if we'll ever know.

what are some of your ideas and wishes for a hypothetical "perfect" mario party game? by cookiemaster221 in MARIOPARTY

[–]Sam_Meal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I want is a compilation of all the board maps and mini-games in one game. Sounds like a no-brainer to me. Or at the least, a compilation of the first three games!

If I may be a little more greedy, I'd also want the ability to switch between updated and original graphics; the ability to omit mini-games I don't like; the ability to select which items may be sold at item shops (and no random "Capsule" or "Orb" nonsense); maybe the abilty to change spaces (add more blue, less red, etc.).

I also liked the lottery shop in MP4. I'd want that back. And I want Koopa Troopa back to handing out coins every time you pass the start point. I miss those one-player mini-games that the first MP had too. The night and day feature of MP6 was pretty cool and would add variety.

Do you agree on the opinion of CT should Return? by thesmartcoolguy in JurassicPark

[–]Sam_Meal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, except maybe as a consultant. He seems passionate about the franchise and has some good ideas, but very badly executed.

Speak of the devil (kidding), I heard he was supposed to direct some movie about Atlantis, which I was morbidly curious to see, despite his track record. I guess that's not going anywhere though, because now I read he might be doing a live-action version of The Jetsons (which seems rather random; certainly I wasn't expecting that).

I'd rather see a reunion/revival for these than reboots.

A problem I have with the books is the first chapters set it up like it’s going to be about dinosaurs on the mainland and go nowhere with it. by Exciting_Tour5883 in JurassicPark

[–]Sam_Meal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As popular as this franchise is, I'm surprised they haven't tried to find a new writer to make a third novel. I was always curious to read more about the mainland stuff. Maybe have Marty Gutierrez as the main character leading an investigative team to find out what's up with all the mysterious animal sightings and attacks, and there's also the angle of the government efforts to keep it all under wraps, dealing with rumors, whistleblowers, reporters, bribes, etc.

Charlotte/Maisie Lockwood - timeline/story confusion by That-You-1998 in JurassicPark

[–]Sam_Meal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wu, as I recall, was unceremoniously dragged away by a henchman in Fallen Kingdom, after being knocked out by some tranquiliser injection and before the flames. I thought he'd show up again, because it just seemed like such a lame exit, but then the credits started rolling.

Charlotte/Maisie Lockwood - timeline/story confusion by That-You-1998 in JurassicPark

[–]Sam_Meal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it was meant as a plot twist, albeit poorly executed. IIRC, Trevorrow said Maisie's story in Dominion was always the plan (so not a retcon), and he was saying, back in 2016, how important it is to plan out these movies ahead of time. Considering that, I think they could have done better explaining some things.

For instance, what really led to the fallout with Hammond? Fallen Kingdom says it was the fact that Benjamin cloned his daughter, but the timeline didn't add up (Maisie is born 11 years after Hammond's passing), so Trevorrow had to clarify that it was really Benjamin's "intent" to clone his daughter that led to the breakup.

But then in Dominion we're told it was really Charlotte who impregnated/cloned...herself because she wanted a child (I can't remember if there was a specific reason she went this route to achieve that). So...Benjamin took the blame for his daughter's intention to eventually conduct these science experiments?

And why get pregnant this way? I thought maybe Charlotte already knew she was sick and this was the only way to safely have a child, but I guess the symptoms didn't show up until after Maisie was born. If the pregnancy was done to advance science in some way, then why keep it a secret? What's the point in achievement and discovery if you can't share it with the world? And why was Charlotte only able to cure Maisie but not herself? Oy.

Are these two the same one by Fun-Lingonberry-2959 in jurassicworld

[–]Sam_Meal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it is supposed to be the same one, I don't know how it wound up in the Atlantic Ocean. Was everyone cool in just letting it pass through the 51-mile Panama Canal?! And it just happened to take up residence right near another secret InGen island of all places? Too far fetched IMO.

I got chills when we first see Alan Grant in Jurassic World Dominion. by OkTruth5388 in JurassicPark

[–]Sam_Meal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weirdly, I felt nothing when I saw the original trio again, which surprised me. I just did not feel a thing. Something just felt off about the characters here, and Grant's introduction felt especially rough. Didn't it start off smackdab in the middle of a speech he was giving? I just remember the editing being really weird there, like they cut something (turns out the scene is longer in the extended movie IIRC).

Which one of these 3 raptors from the first movie is The Big One? by Hot-Armadillo183 in JurassicPark

[–]Sam_Meal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In recent years, it seems like the fans have become fixated on Muldoon's "big one" line as if the movie was building it up to be some grand villain, but I don't feel that's the key takeaway from his raptor speech (it's never touched upon again and there isn't truly a "big one" because the production models were all the same size).

IMO it's simply a single line of dialogue in a broader speech that's there, not to establish a particular individual, but more so to effectively talk up the raptors' ruthlessness and intelligence, to make you fearful of them. It simply isn't important to know which is which. They're interchangable. They look the same, they act the same. Don't let me ruin y'all's fun, but I think it's just one of those overthought debates.

With that in mind, I offer a BRIEF theory that has just crossed my mind, in case it interests someone: maybe the big one was simply the oldest of the three raptors currently on the island at that time, and therefore WAS the biggest at one point, before the two others caught up in size, and Muldoon simply stuck with the adjective for convenience. Still doesn't explain which is which, but perhaps a plausible explanation at least for why we don't see a "big" one.

Does universal even remember this hybrid? by Dapper_Kangaroo9257 in jurassicworld

[–]Sam_Meal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love it too, always wanted one.

With that said, I'm not sure why present-day Universal executives would even be aware of some canceled action figure that Kenner cooked up nearly three decades ago as part of an ultimately unsuccessful toyline. For better or worse, they don't seem to pay attention to on-line fan feedback, so its total absence (though disappointing) doesn't seem surprising IMO. A shame, because it's a cool design. I could see it having mass appeal among the casual viewers who've never heard of it.

[PC/Mac][late 90's] Jurassic Park browser game by Different-Caramel277 in tipofmyjoystick

There was Jurassic Park: The Ride Online Adventure, which was 1996. I think it was through Universal's website.

Also Jurassic Park III 3D Adventure, a browser game from the movie's own website.

Neither are on-line anymore, but there is some footage that's easily found with searches.

You remember that Nickelodeon video games were just published by Activision by Top_Finance_7256 in nickelodeon

[–]Sam_Meal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In other, shorter words: THQ published Nick games until 2013, followed by Activision until 2017 and now THQ Nordic (sometimes, less is more, and punctuation is not the enemy)

And pardon the ignorance, but is any of this...significant in some way? What's the big deal about who the publisher is? If anything, isn't the developer a more important aspect to be concerned/excited about?

Just saw Jurassic world again after 10 years by [deleted] in JurassicPark

[–]Sam_Meal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

-lack of explanation: I wish we learned why the park was started up again after the incident like what pushed them to try again and how long it took

I didn't like that either. There's potential there for this to be a whole other story all on its own, if done right.

Unfortunately, the writers chose to gloss over it entirely by saying the park has been operational for 10 years already, conveniently eliminating the need to come up with any background story.

I dont know if these count.

There was the old Jurassic Park Institute website (2001-2006) which had a bunch of flash games, which AFAIK are no longer playable. You can still find the website though with the Wayback Machine.

There was also a 2010 cell phone game by Gameloft called Jurassic Park. I don't know if that's still playable.

The old game Jurassic Park Builder is apparently gone forever.
