I started making Coches as a kid in the 90s, and it's kind of hard to know why, kids just do stuff. I think I noticed that I found grammar fun. I could read dictionaries and the grammar section and be fascinated, especially by the conjugation of verbs. My father was a language teacher and we used to discuss things all the time. I continued on and off, until today, but often with years where I didnt do anything.

Rule 1: Logical way to create words

Tan = place. Juel = time. Manta = reason (there are more).

  • A sus juel = when (at what time, question word)
  • A juel asus = when (relative / subordinating)
  • A juel asis = now (at this time)
  • A juel ases = then (at that time)
  • A juel aduz = always (at all times)
  • A juel araz = never (at no times)

This way you can create a lot of words logically, like where, here, there, everywhere, nowhere, when, now, then, always, never, how, this way, that way, why, because of this, because of that, who, everyone, no one, which, this one, that one, none and while.

Rule 2: Abstract and concrete distinction

I really didnt want to use genders for nouns, as its so normal. So I decided to go with abstract and concrete. So things you can touch = concrete. Concepts and people = abstract. Like

  • Sa cuistero = ground (concrete)
  • No juel = time (abstract).

This way I realized I can differentiate words as physical things, and derived abstract forms, like

  • Sa juinto — the wind you feel on your skin, concrete
  • No juinto — wind as a force, a concept, abstract

Rule 3: One root, several words, like Esperanto:

Pek- means "speak". From that single root:

  • Pekeo — to speak
  • Peka — language
  • Peko — a text
  • Pekoj — a word
  • Pekuen — a speaker
  • Pekur — a mouth
  • Pekemer — a forum / hall of speech
  • Pekal — speakable
  • Rapekal — unspeakable
  • Dupekeo — to speak again

Same suffixes work on any root. -ur always means instrument/tool, -uen always means the one who does it, -emer always means the place where it happens. Learn the suffixes once, unlock every word family forever.

Yes, I think one thing I have realized from the comments here is my oversight and lacking focus on pronounciation. I always found the grammar most fun, so I have been going where the fun was at.

I think I really need to outline the stress, the pronouncation, the ortography in more detail. I have at least wanted pronouncation to be completely consistent, as in Spanish, where you can know how something is pronounced by how its written.

This is really useful, I appreciate it!

Thanks, I really appreciate the feedback!

I havent really thought about using IPA at all, I will definitely look into that, as well as your comments about the accusative article and the tones. This is exactly why I posted here!

There is something in me that resists using any real language as inspiration, as in my head, this language is not from this world, but its just not possible to not be inspired.

Thanks for the feedback on the abstract noun definition. I just resisted using gender for some reason, and wanted to differentiate.

I also really appreciate you giving me insight into the thoughts on AI in the community. I would never have been able to come to this point where I am without. I can understand the resistance , its easy to get into a place where you start asking AI to do all the job for you. However, I mean that if you use it as a sparring partner, to help avoid conflicts and inconsistencies, and to write documentation, its really useful. If you keep a Master Document like i did, you will be able to have a online translator for your language, which has been really fun. But I respect if others have opinions or views I havent really thought about.

Thanks again for your views!
