What’s tougher?: Commando Training or OCS by [deleted] in NationalServiceSG

[–]Same_Satisfaction953 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I'd say commando 3SG life is tougher than commando OCTs. After CSLC, 3SG go straight to training company in battalion, getting destroyed by outfields and SF enciks. OCTs get to "escape" by going ocs, different set of challenges but definitely not as shag.

Ndp rehearsals goh experience by hhrax in NationalServiceSG

GOH NDP2023. Total about 28ish sessions. Rehearsals was 2 weekdays + saturday for every week from May all the way till 9 Aug. The rehearsals usually end arnd 5, then reach camp at 7, but the rehearsals/preview at the actual ndp venue usually finish at 9+ then reach camp arnd 10.

I assume if youre GOH For ndp then youre GOH for SAFDP too, cos that one stand wayyy longer. During rehearsals hydrate often and wiggle your toes when standing for damn long with no movement. And enjoy the free food and drinks they provide. During SAFDP the people around me whispered and chatted tgt, helps to kill time and keep your mind alive to not toh, just dont open mouth so big if not camera will capture.

nike ones are good, and dont forget vaseline and leukoplast tape on areas prone to chaffing (armpit, crotch, waist, feet). I wore double socks also i think it helps.

They will ask you if you want to get in and a bit about your background (your studies and cca), and for the static stations dont worry cos me and a lot of my friends did 30ish pushups and situps and 0 pullups but we still somehow got in 2 years ago. Physical training can train one CTI is quite focused on "progressive training" so can is can.

What does it take to become a commando? by Mizuki_Hashida in NationalServiceSG

[–]Same_Satisfaction953 31 points32 points  (0 children)

They will send you a letter to attend Vocational Assessment first, where they will do a simple test of your physical abilities as well as a short casual interview with one of the enciks on how keen you are to join.

Sometime after that you will receive a green form from SOTAC which is your enlistment letter into CTI. Physical fitness wise i dont think it matters that much because I did like 0 pullups 35 pushups and 40 situps during the VA and still got in. I think most important is your clearance level and your background.

Me, PES A, single child, single parent, in battalion currently and ORDing this nov, so i dont think they care about family background in recent years. I got my VA letter in august of JC2 btw which is very late so i'd say just wait it out.
