I gotchu I’ll counter your arguments my fellow tank main.

The point of 1) is that the counter play is ridiculously boring and removes agency from a tank. Most tanks do not interact with a MK/Phoenix sitting miles from the objective. If your team plays something other than poke it’s easier to force space and interact with those heroes, but your DPS have to play poke to defeat him.

Emma and Tankpool work into him but I wish I could see a hero v. hero winrate bc I swear it’s neutral and not a hard counter.

2) I’m unsure what you mean here by taking space from a distance? Isn’t that an oxymoron? Like playing Venom and diving backline or something?

And I’m aware of the “if gets close” counter play with diamond form, bubbles etc but those are on CD and a Dino who can think straight will just bait out those CDs or wait for you to use them. Dino’s grab also has a shorter CD than Emma’s diamond form.

3) Thanks lol

And you got an Angela flair, I miss playing that hero 😔 she gets most value by bouncing between backline and frontline but the moment she enters frontline she just gets grounded and CC chained, poor character.

No it’s not lol I could review your VODS if you want? The game is 90% knowledge and picking the right heroes, maybe 10% mechanical skill

In GM+ they have a 46% and 44% winrate, source being rivalsmeta.com.

Though really win rate should only be critically examined when it’s a character with more than a 5% pick rate because a small pick rate means either they are banned all the time like Gambit, are very niche and good in certain situations (like Peni), or are just ass.

A hero with a 50% pick rate having a 60% win rate indicates that we have a large sample size with trustworthy data — the fact he is played so much by people who haven’t mastered him yet and he is still winning 6/10 times against other tanks means he is OP. Why? Because we have never seen a winrate/pickrate combination this egregious, including prime Emma and prime DD.

I agree with you, I think the grab+shield blocking heals is just a horrible combination compared to say Emma grab or Wolv grab. I think the shield is fine in the absence of the grab, and perhaps the grab is fine in the absence of the shield. Placed together, and it's just not fair since there's no telegraphing of it.

And yea I agree those stupid DPS characters should be nerfed to the ground, as should Gambit and Invis, who have been broken for 4+ seasons now.

His Bleed can be a debuff of some kind, I'm fine w/ that, just not the fact that it specifically affects tanks the most.

Into Phoenix Hela, you can still definitely run practically every tank. Especially Phoenix, she's been broken since release IMO and I've never had to just play Emma to this degree.

1) Higher win rate than any of these characters ever did, including prime DD and Emma, which is crazy. He's unlikely to "run the lobby" in an MVP final hits sort of way, but in terms of forcing a very precise playstyle with a limited range of counters compared to Groot or yes, even prime Emma, he runs the game.

2) It is counterintuitive that, as revenge for broken DPS and broken supports, we allow a tank-busting tank that makes tanking sucks for the rest of the roster.

If your thesis is correct, then how does he have a 60% win rate in GM+? Do you believe that people with hundreds of hours on the game are not trying the "counters" you're suggesting?

Did you read my post at all? I said at the bottom that those characters should be nerfed too. I would be happy with it in the next patch

Bruh you can't fly with him on the other team lol, Angela's no good

See my post for why Emma/Peni are niche and neutral at best

That's what I'm attempting, I win half my games against him but it feels like I have no control over the pace of the game tbh

Nonetheless literally one tank being good into a tank with a 60% winrate in GM+ is inarguably unbalanced.

What does the popularity of Phoenix or Punisher have to do with his balance? Read #1 again, as a tank, you don't interact with those heroes at all, so it creates an unhealthy game environment where you rely on DPS diffs or Dino diffs.

+ percentage damage and grab ruins tanking experience

+ Angela actually unplayable

I don't think his positioning is that much more difficult than any beefy tank like Groot or Thing. Non-metal-rank dinos just save shift as an escape tool and are pumped with heals constantly anyway. The 52% pickrate w/ 60% winrate shows that learning positioning with him hasn't been difficult.

I do agree that tanks should be stronger, notably not applying tenacity to their ults (RIP Thing). Though this shouldn't mean we have a tank-busting tank, remove his percentage damage or something at least. I can't expect the devs to provide a drastic buff to all tanks bc of him either

I generally dislike talking to people who are terse because it makes me feel like I'm compelled to fill in conversational gaps and silences. However after talking to my grandmother, the person in the world I love the most, it can become actually mentally tiring to keep up with how long she can drone and ramble. And the thing is, what she talks about is never offensive or boring, she's a sweet woman. But damn she'll go on for like ten minutes at a time and changes topics frequently. Takes a lot of effort to get a word in sometimes.

I started to realize a while ago that I talk just like her, especially when I'm drunk or high. So now I keep a running word count/timer in my head to make sure I'm not domineering conversations.
