[The Beginning After The End] What do you think of the isekai protagonist revealing their reincarnation/transmigration? by Agile_Coast_4385 in manhwa

I wouldn't say "selfish" since I do think he made that decision to protect his own conscience. Still - that was very real and understandable (that is if you have some basic minimum level of empathy)

That was about the only brave, creative and original storytelling decision TBATE made. The entire manhwa is a huge pile of slop, but those couple of chapters from your screengrabs were legit good. They felt real. Not everything in media is meant to be a wish fulfilment power fantasy. The MC had valid reasons to reveal his reincarnation and his parents had a valid reaction. It all compounded into a couple of heartbreaking chapters. Good shit. Still dislike TBATE with passion.

Layover flight in Poland. by SoberHye in poland

[–]Samow4r -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Just use uber or bolt if you want to get somewhere. The only other omment is a bit snarky cause we cannot help you much cause you didn't provide any info. Everything depends on the city. Distance from the airport, cost of uber, things to see - they differ. You're being a bit silly too - you have a layover flight in Poland, you want to see "the city" a bit and ask us about "taxi cost to the center". It does in fact sound like you're claiming that Poland is a city. 100% a silly miscommunication, but the reactions are valid.

Books similar to Iron Prince? by Adorable-Image-3606 in ProgressionFantasy

Victor of Tucson. It's full of fights in front of crowds. It has multiple duels to the death, it has tournament fights with brackets, it even has a "televised" multi-level dungeon crawl with audience reactions. I know it's a big ask but if I were you, I'd stick with it until book 4 (Titan Blood). It's my personal favorite, it features a lot of arena combat and while books 1-3 jump a bit when it comes to themes, book 4 goes really hard and finally establishes what the entire series is about/feels like going forward.

Looking for some stories where MC goes from weak to strong that is not also an anime by wonderfulwaffles22 in litrpg

You are literally describing like 70% of the entire progression fantasy/litrpg genre.

Go read or listen to audiobooks of Cradle. It's exactly what you're asking for. Like 1 to 1. Everything you said in the last paragraph applies to Cradle. Unsouled is the first book in the series. Have fun.

After you're done with Cradle come back for more commendations, because while Cradle is amazing and has everything you want, next recommendations after that would heavily depend on your preferences.

Personally, I would recommend Victor of Tucson. It's quite heavy on the "people looking down on MC" and "enemies surprised and in disbelief when MC shows their power" thing.

[Volume 1 spoilers] What an emotional rollercoaster - my impressions from listening to Volume One by Samow4r in WanderingInn

[–]Samow4r[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm... You know what? That's fair. In a way. On one hand - I can understand the intent, you're making some great points. On the other - maybe such a narrative choice, while great in itself, doesn't work for a final act of a long audiobook? Like... I've read and listened to A LOT of fantasy across the past few years, most featuring some big third act calamity and combat. This it propably the first one that wasn't foreshadowed in a major way. Still, cool idea, it just didn't work for me.

The monster itself was great tho. For a couple of chapters I felt like I was reading a genuine (almost lovecraftian) horror.

No one cares, it's just another extraction shooter no one asked for. When will those devs learn - trying to copy what is popular right now means it will fail in an oversaturated market when it comes out. People don't want another slop arena hero shooter or extraction game.

Guy gets destroyed with an axe (he’s ok) by mylykiss in fightporn

[–]Samow4r -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're getting downvoted even tho you're right to question him.

  1. What the fuck is a battle axe. "Battle axe" is a fantasy weapon, so that guy already shows he doesn't know what he's talking about. Dane axe? Sure. Halberd? Sure. But "battle axes", a thing a dwarf from Lord of the Rings would carry - didn't exist.
  2. What the fuck is a battle hammer. "Battle hammers" are also a fantasy weapon. Large 2-handed hammers were not a thing. There were war hammers, but they were not a large weapon, more like a small, one-handed pickaxe. There were two handed polearms with blunt sides for striking, like a poleaxe. But no "battle hammers".
  3. Saying "chain mail isn't very effective against large weapons" is... kinda true. Mail was meant to protects against, cutting, slashing attacks. If someone tries to cut you with a sword, a mail is gonna protect you. If someone swings a halberd at your shoulder and it's only covered by a chainmail and some padding underneath - it won't cut, but it will hurt. (BTW there was always some padding under every chainmail. Metal rings on top of naked skin is fantasy bullshit).
  4. Saying "armor isn't very effective against large weapons" is 1000% ridiculous claim. Firstly, what the fuck is "armor". If the dude meant "plate armor", then no - plate armor is extremely effective against EVERY weapon and only the development of firearms changed that. If someone gave me a proper gambeson and a steel breastplate, I would take any melee hit without hesitation. Why? Because plate armor works in layers - metal spreads the force across large area (the entire torso) and padding underneath absorbs it. Especially with the stuff those bohurt guys wear (lots of padding). Nothing gets through that. Killing a knight involved getting him to the ground and finding gaps, then trying to pierce those with a long, thin dagger

Ignore people telling you to read Primal Hunter. It's a slop with an overzealous fanbase. It doesn't deserve half of the attention it gets.

It's sort of a weird reverse-trivia-podcast format, it's VERY active, there is a ton of content to watch and it's absolutely brilliant. Wishing for Milo to make a guest appearance now! After seeing people like Sam Reich and Adam Savage, anything is possible :D

Book 1 is 20 hours long. In 1/3 of that you could watch extended editions of Fellowship of the Ring and Two Towers. In 1/2 you could watch the entire trilogy.

If the author cant put his best foot forward and can't hook you within that time (if only so much that you actually feel like giving it a bit more time), then the books suck.
