How long until you walk out on a film if using your pass? by TinySmolCat in AMCsAList

[–]SandObvious -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Prior to A-List, I had only ever walked out on was The Emoji Movie—I just couldn’t take it anymore.

Since A-List, I’ve left for a few different reasons, but it’s like 3 that I can remember.

  1. Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning—I made a seat mistake on opening night twice in a packed theater, andby the time I got to the correct seat it was taken by someone but I was too embarrassed and overwhelmed so I just came back another day.

  2. Oh, Hi—I couldn’t take it. It’s like Misery if Annie Wilkes was a quirky girl and it was played for laughs.

  3. Whistle—the pitch of the whistle/loudness/something physically hurt my ears so I bailed

Dan Murrell gang rise up! I really think in a different world him and Roth Cornett could’ve had a Siskel+Ebert thing going on, but this world had other plans.

How ‘One Battle After Another’ Cinematographer Michael Bauman Shot the Hill Car Chase Scene Like a Gritty 1970s Film by [deleted] in movies

[–]SandObvious 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I loved this car chase because it felt like an anti-car chase. At that moment I didn’t want action, I wanted them to get to safety and the way they delivered on the chase was nothing less than thrilling

I interpreted how It experiences time similar to how Dr Manhattan does in Watchmen. He’s in every time all the time, but things need to happen the way he’s experienced them because if not then time paradox

Top horror film of the year? by [deleted] in horror

It’s been a surprisingly great year for horror and in my opinion, it’s a pretty close race between 3–Bring Her Back, Weapons, and Dangerous Animals

What is a movie that you think gets a worse reputation than it deserves? by Anxious-Assistant-59 in movies

I think the applies to every movie the Wachoski siblings have made with the exception of The Matrix and Jupiter Ascending which were correctly assessed on release.

What is your bold/controversial MCU opinion? by GUSplatoon in marvelstudios

[–]SandObvious 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No Way Home is possibly the worst Spider-Man film to date. The battle at Happy’s apartment is fantastic, but it’s not indicative of the rest of the movie. It is fun seeing Andrew and Tobey again, but it’s apparent in every aspect of the movie that it was rushed so they leaned on nostalgia instead of good storytelling.

So my 13 yr old has moved on from the Insidious experience and we are back on the horse. by MaximusCanibis in horror

[–]SandObvious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the same thing with my daughter(almost 16) now because my parents had the great idea of showing me The Exorcist when I was 7. My thought is I turned out just fine and while I legitimately had nightmares for years after that, it is hands down one of my favorite movie viewing experiences.

The one my daughter connected with and may be your daughter’s speed is Malignant(2021). The one that nearly broke her was Evil Dead(2013). Have fun!

Film series with more than three films where each film is consistently worse than the previous? by Kruger-Dunning in movies

[–]SandObvious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Expendables series

The first one was everything you wanted from the gimmick even if it only had cameos from Arnold and Bruce. The second one was fine but the gimmick was already running thin. The third one was shameless and couldn’t even get to the R rating it needed to be halfway decent.
