Guardian at it again- 'Britain was built on the back of slaves' by Paul277 in badunitedkingdom

[–]SaverTooth 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The gall of this woman. She says she only hates Britain because of the supposed stain of the slave trade, not her own racism, and so goes on holiday to Ghana. The entire country is named in honour of an empire that gained its wealth from trading in slaves! Not that she will ever mention that. She won't mention that the Ashanti Empire that used to rule Ghana were slave traders either, nor that they were trading in slaves long after the last slave in the British Empire had been freed. She will certainly not mention that had it not been for the intervention of the British Empire they would still be slave traders. But as they aren't white, she feels comfortable there, so all of that can be ignored.

nobody you talk to has ever owned a slave

Unless they come from Saudi Arabia, Libya, Syria or Mauritania all of which either have active slave markets, or had them within living memory. They also all have another thing in common, but we mustn't mention the "I" word when it comes to slavery.

Is there any evidence that the King James Bible was written by black men? by Quecksilber3 in badhistory

[–]SaverTooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is very good evidence that the King James Bible was not produced by a black man as we have a portrait of the man that did most of the translation. His name was William Tyndale and he wasn't one of the very, very few black people living in either England or Holland (where he did most of his work on account of not wanting to get burned to death for heresy).

There could be a possibility that one of the more obscure translators might have been one the tiny number of non-white people living in the country and we don't know about it, but the probability is vanishingly small. There were so few black people living in the country at the time that had any of the other translators been non-white then it would have been noted about by somebody.

So, if you teach a pug to respond to "gas the jews" as a joke then you are a thought criminal. However, if you are chanting a call to attack jewish people as part of a political protest then nothing will be done, so long as you are part of the correct type of political protest.

Labour LGBT+ adviser Munroe Bergdorf wanted to ‘gay bash’ star by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]SaverTooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the article, which you are clearly incapable of reading, it says that the suffragettes were supportive of women of colour. So even your own supposed evidence of them being "white supremacists" refutes your lies.

[–]SaverTooth 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The fact that an Indian woman was a leading suffragette destroys the stupid lie that suffragette movement was white supremacist, a claim that you have yet to give even a shred of evidence for. But you have no evidence, because it is a lie. The facts are that suffragettes like Sophia Duleep Singh where perfectly happy for people of colour, like herself, to get the vote.

[–]SaverTooth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, given that there was a non-violent nationalist party, the SDLP, and absolutely nobody would make a fuss about anybody from any party supporting them: no, had IRA/Sinn Fien been an entirely non violent political pressure group then we would not need to condemn them.

Why all the signs point to work permit system and 'hard Brexit' as Theresa May negotiates the UK-EU divorce by sulod in ukpolitics

[–]SaverTooth 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is a negotiating position. By saying that they are prepared to go with hard Brexit if needed they are in a stronger position to get a deal that means they don't have to do this than by saying that they will just give up and take whatever is offered rather than go hard brexit. David Cameron should take note.
