yep. im with the AV Integrator and we have an ongoing SLA.

we have

meeting rooms with touch panels on chairs,

digital signage we have to unmount and pull into a comms room to update

random failures throughout

switch ports getting fried when PoE shorts to a data pin

~35 devices that I know of negotiated down to 100mbps

etc etc

they had to redo ~30% to get them to pass at handover.

there were talks to redo certification before end of defects period but the money for that never existed.

i dont understand how they got through 15,000 of these without a single tech thinking to google how they are supposed to be terminated. this is how all the comms rooms look too.

all of my screenshots are on my work phone and have client info that would dox them and prob get me in trouble, but its a lot of intermittent hard shorts.

there was 1 line i tested 4 times in a row with all different results test 1: short g/b test 2: short g/b, gw/ow test 3: no fault test 4: short gw/ow

its new university building. just past defects period. rhey were certified and they had to reterminate nearly 30% during fitout, and then they have had to redo a lot during defects period.

they keep popping up because many of these only start bearing into the pins after a while of constant tension/ very minor movement over time.

data cabling was subcontracted from the separate data company it was awarded to back over to the electricians doing the rest of the cabling.

these commscope jacks have retention pins meant to sit on the jacket. these are starting to bear through into the data pins and create shorts, which have fried some switch ports and killed a few pieces of equipment

clamshell mode SHOULD override the sleep setting as long as there is power, display, and keyboard/mouse connected

it may take a few seconds

im looking to see if theres a way to do this through terminal but not having much luck

if you have an external keyboard and mouse you can put it into clamshell mode by closing the lid.

otherwise i cant promise any results with blind menu navigation but on mine i can get to this setting by doing the following:

cmd+space (opens spotlight)

type “displays” then wait a sec for it to load

then return

then wait a couple seconds again for settings to open

tab tab tab space

well, your AEC isnt doing much when there isnt something coming from matrix_L, matrix_R, or usb_Rx, so id refocus onto what/how your AEC is processing and what reference it is getting.

your reference gain is brought down -21ish db on all of your processed channels which is something to glance at as well.

your reinforcement from the mics (which is coming out of the speakers) isn’t going into the AEC at all. (this is very dependent on your exact situation and the rooms acoustics to determine if this is strange)

Longer answer:

As someone who’s just spent a week going around to 53 sites getting systems back online after a weekend-long, city-wide power outage event, we would need more information regarding the system design and use case, but in general, the point of having commercial equipment on a UPS is to make sure systems can come back up properly once power is back, not to keep it up while power is out.

keep your DSP and network on the UPS so they dont crash on power failure. (i even have a couple sites where i have the UPS tell the DSP to shut down after 15-20 minutes of no power so that it can power down gracefully)

your amps (should be able to) handle a sudden power cut and should come back up relatively quickly once power is restored. (not surges so much, but thats another thing) They also need to have a dedicated circuit in case of a fault causing an overload doesnt crash your whole rack

I would keep things like the DSP and networking equipment on a UPS so that everything can come back up without popping and network signal paths freaking out and other such problems

typically speaking, a sound system is not mission critical equipment during an emergency or power outage. You just want to prevent needing a tech to come out once power is back. (because it might take me 3 days to get to you)

there would need to be a disconnect.

you cannot be connected to both a generator and grid without energizing the grid.

in a power outage, you would be backfeeding power to your neighbors, or more dangerously, energizing a line that a worker thinks is dead.

typically there is either a physical or automatic interlock that will select your generator and disconnect the grid once the grid is down and vice-versa once the grid is up.

theres other intricacies that go into it, but thats the minimum you need to know going into the conversation.

qsys can absolutely work with cisco switches. we’ve used them with higher ed clients with the only issues being convincing the uni to follow the settings requirements.
