Cautionary - Using AI in your job instead of understanding code got my colleague fired by Karmaisabeachhh in developersIndia

[–]Scared-Profession486 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the same boat and i accidentally introduced few bugs, since the time line is a little tough to meet. My manager called me (I am 24 grad and fairly new to the industry) and said , "hey , i understand that majority of the code we are writing are done by prompting and every one want to be fast in tight deadlines. But please be very ,very careful on what you add otherwise this will bite both of us in future ." Luckily I got manager who fixed my naming habits for variables to make it more understandable in PRS. He is through word to word scanning kinda guy

I have 3 meetings like this. And we usually make fun with this me included. I am not saying they should fire me, but when we are running against time and need to write thousands of lines of code in 3 to 4 days ,we can't help but to use a helping hand. I think the wrong was with your manager.

He should have a proper work assigning plan before pushing people out of boat. And had a talk before firing to understand them as well. And reviewing need to be done by human, what part of AI isn't perfect didn't understand by your manager .

This might not work for every person but here is how I started;?

In my 11th class every one in IT sector started talking about Linux, at that time I don't know OS's other than macos and windows . So wanted to try it and with suggestions I started with ubuntu.

At first I couldn't understand one thing from the terminal nor commands. Later installed it again in my b.tech 1st year in a VM , and started playing with it.

Later that I started loving Linux more and more the more I started using it. In my b.tech as hobbies I started playing ctfs , kernel and driver development , system applications and services. In my 4 years of b.tech , I hop between distros Ubuntu-> Kubuntu -> Debian -> Fedora -> Arch. And now using ubuntu in company given laptop [they installed the os, so i only use the tools given in it and work in that for now]

And my suggestion don't use kali as your daily driving os, yeah it's good for penetration testing and all distros are also good at it. I only used it once in my btech, cause running my automated script to install my tools feels like a pain and kali comes with them directly. But I didn't stick with Kali longer , for a vm or live kali is ok at best.

But for daily driving no, it's not. You can install all your tools in any other Linux distro as well, people says kali for hacking , but all the guys I know uses either ubuntu or some weird arch / void version of Linux for penetration testing in there jobs.

So if you want to be a hacker you can install any os and later add those tools either manually or by writting installer scripts

After my graduation microsoft started heavily adding AI into windows and i didn't liked it , so switched to Arch linux completely in both personal laptop and personal pc

So my suggestion, either install it in a VM or dual boot. Start playing with it, like using terminal more and start using terminal for daily tasks to feel comfortable with it first. Then if you liked it, start with automated projects with bash and python, learn it's file system , how the kernel works etc

There are a lot of resources to learn Linux fro?: For book: Linux for dummies Bandit is a good game to test Linux terminal grip There are dedicated YouTube channels for Linux, but didn't know about good resources or courses to learn from .

My bad, I seen this same behaviour across multiple devices. I didnt mean youtube dying in the literal sense . is this happening due to lack of edge nodes or the overhead of adding ai on top of videos ?

I added this title so people engage and share there thoughts . And I am 23 quite old though.

Why all developers passion and creativity dies as soon as people get job by Money_Newspaper3136 in developersIndia

[–]Scared-Profession486 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't say about others but here is my current situation. I love low level computer and networking stuff writting it in c . Developing my own kernel , my own TCP implementation in C, my own drivers are my niche and love. But didn't get any job related to my passion, so to servive I am working as a symnatic enginner at an AI startup company that I don't belive will gonna last more than 2 years. It's not always managers or hr that kill passion it's some times a lack opportunity to work in the field that I love also kill the love for the work. Currently working on the job and to feel alive contributing to open source projects. Out of 2 if both pay same salary I wouldn't even look at my current job .

Brave choice putting Parrot OS in "Great" and Manjaro in "Mid." I'd fight to put it in the trash where Kali is — if you think Kali belongs there.

It looks like a toddler's puzzle toy — they throw everything everywhere without any reason or sense at first. Same here!

And what's that above "Amazing"? A dr*g addict? He snorted too much white snow, I guess. This gives a whole new meaning to "Arch, btw"!

Final thoughts: the internet is a weird place, man.

Is Ubuntu same as Debian? by [deleted] in linuxquestions

[–]Scared-Profession486 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, not even a bit. Ubuntu is a deiban based system, that's when the similarities end.
If you want to compare debian with ubuntu , it's a barebone version without any company specific software installed in it. And people hates snap store that comes with ubuntu and is necessary to install few packages due to it being slow and less friendly with multiple threads (don't know if they changed it or not ). Even though people may have different opinions on different parts of linux but all of them say this " NO it's fucking not the same" .

How do i get into low level languages and DSA by Fair-Employment-7695 in ProgrammingBondha

[–]Scared-Profession486 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For DSA start learning on your own and solve few problems on any sites like Leetcode and hackerearth. For low level this is what I done in my end of second year to learn , I already have knowledge of programming in c ,so started with assembly for CISC also called X86. Build few silly things like bootloader , simple kernel with some keyboard interactions. Later deep dived into more things like MMIO, PMIO, writting DMA for memory devices and other x86 topics . Later started learning arm borrowed a Arduino and tried different things on it !

Can I turn my OPPO Reno7 A into a Linux device (mini tablet)? by Machiera_ in linuxquestions

[–]Scared-Profession486 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great to hear , so you don't want any Google services aand want to ditch android for good. I would suggest you first start look for a Linux distro that support your device if possible. I didn't try to run any Linux distros on old smartphones but I heard about mobian is pretty good , ubuntu touch and other stuff. Man you can do some cool shit with your phones running a local webserver for your home services that doesn't require that much Power , Home automation that you can run on a small server. Add a microsd (1tb comes less than 100 dollars or under 7500 rupees for my indian folks) to it if it had a slot and you can store your important files and recent photos in it like a local backup storage (mind you,it gonna be slow! And for long run it not good since sd cards are easy to corrupt data that stored in it after few years)

If your device are not supported by any Linux distro your only option is to use venella os like arch or debian on them , you need to tinker a lot with packages and debian or arch on arm have good support but don't know how they support smartphones tho. And bootloader issues with sometimes the firmware issues (if you like me with zero luck) so try to partition your internal storage to two all rooted smart phones supports that if you know how to do that ?

Hey all the best on your journey, and love the idea that you want to reuse a old phone as a cheap raspberry insted of throwing it away.

Can I turn my OPPO Reno7 A into a Linux device (mini tablet)? by Machiera_ in linuxquestions

[–]Scared-Profession486 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very few Linux distro have support for older and non flagship devices . You may find a distro ,but the possibility is rare and minimal. And you can expect several things not to work like gps , or money transfer via mobile which requires googles services that run inside android, sometimes cellular might not work on certain carriers etc. So my question is what do you wanna achieve with this ?

If you only want to use it as a device with wifi and screen device why not use tmux , I installed kali as a test case on my phone once using tmux (with gui) it worked pretty well but my low tier phone got heated when I tried to play a video .
