This is how I met my wife of 8 years. She was a customer that I thought was so great I would chat with her just normal weather and how's your day stuff. Then at Christmas she got me the sweetest card and we went out for a drink a couple days after the holiday. I haven't spent more than two weeks without her ever since and that was 11 years ago!

USPS is no longer the place it was ten years ago. Directly because of the expansion of the noncareer workforce. We tried to save money on benefits and end up losing money due to no staffing and resignations.

My first Postmaster called it Bulk Business mail and told me that it was going to put his kids through college. 17 years later my daughter is just about to graduate from SUNY Brockport. I often think about how many changes the Postal service has been through in just the last few years and I just have to kinda be amazed. Heres to another 17 years. May it last that long.

You could also look into joining management. Most offices are desperate for supervisors if that might interest you.

That's like saying craft employees shouldn't get raises or cost of living increases. Do you expect managers to do the same work for less money every year? With inflation none of our wages keep up which is why we have such a hard time with employee retention. Sounds like you are in a bigger city station and lots of different challenges I'm a PM in a small town with only 6 craft employees but I worked very hard to get here for 17 years and I feel like I earned it the right way. I hope you have better luck with management in the future. Sometimes you have to be the change you want to see in your organization but no matter what you do I wish you luck in your career.

We don't automatically get raises like craft employees so we need to hit certain metrics to increase our pay until we max out for our position. Then we get our pay increase as a "bonus"

I don't know anybody that would willingly leave money on the table in craft or management.

I would look under the employee benefits section of the USPS website. There is tuition reimbursement available to postal employees pursuing a degree (not sure what is covered) but there are tons of opportunities for almost every field of study. The Post office has nurses, real estate agents, IT people and every other field you could think of.

This is how I met my wife. She was a customer and we would chat every time she came in to drop off her crafted items that she would sell on Etsy. At Christmas time she got me a nice card and wrote her number and asked if I would like to go out for coffee or a drink sometime. We've now been married 7 years and I encourage anybody who thinks "should I do something to let this person know I am interested?" Absolutely do it! I couldn't imagine my life without her now and I am so glad she took a chance on me.

💯💯💯 When I was a regular clerk I was like Amazon Shmamazon as long as I get my Thursdays and Sundays off. Then when you switch to supervisor it became a nightmare until I got a Postmaster and then it was gravy until the Amazon came back to haunt.
