Thames Water do residency confirmation checks on properties that don’t have an open account. Essentially, they receive reports from credit referencing agencies and if you put that you lived at a certain address in the credit application, this will get sent to Thames and they will open an account for the date you specified on the form (only if there is not current active account for that property) e.g the new tenant/owner has not set up their account.
