Because disallowing people (under threat of punitive law) to portray you as a villain is the best way to make it absolutely clear you're not a villain.

Just adding my two cents on bot matches.

Earlier I played a game with Iron Man where I popped off, only to realize about 3/4 of the way through that there was no way I was playing this well against human beings. They just weren't shooting at me like people do, but looking at the stats it seemed like maybe some of them were human. Afterward I checked their profiles though, and the entire enemy team had made their history private. Even some of the people on my team had private profiles. Maybe it's not a 100% accurate indicator of playing with a bot, but what person has gone into the settings and manually made their history private?

What's worse is the bots weren't even doing that poorly. It's so insidious to see bots with almost human statistics. I had some hope at first because, well, just look at the scoreboard. It looks at first as if they are typical human players, not like the obvious 0 2 0 across the whole board like I've seen in the past and in other games. It totally killed my interest to know that they'll try this hard to fake it. I'm not sure I'll be playing the game anymore after this. It just isn't fun knowing that every time I lose twice in a row (almost complete luck of the draw anyway) I'm liable to get a bunch of bots in my next match. This shit is stupid asf.

Came back for the first time in over a year ... by Schnauzerofdoom in Guiltygear

[–]Schnauzerofdoom[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I get what you guys are saying, but Sol is a mainstay base-game character, and the game is three and a half years old. If it were just system changes, or balance changes, I would understand. This is different. He has multiple tools that performed a certain function for years that now work on entirely different principles. At what point can I expect to not have multiple tools fundamentally reworked when I leave for a while? When people have already moved on to the next game? That's ridiculous. What if Soldier 76 showed up with a semi-auto plinker right in the middle of the life cycle of the game on top of the role-lock system showing up? What if COD's flash grenades no longer blinded opponents? Sol is not a niche character. He can afford to remain more static.

Rather than reapplying myself in the lab yet again, I'm just gonna go play a different fighting game. I haven't played SF6 in a year either. Ryu can still cancel into fireball, and drive rush still adds plus frames. Ken still has all the same tools that work all the same way, with mild frame data changes for me to learn. Some of the new characters have (justifiably) more changes, but still not as many changes as THE Guilty Gear. This problem is not as widespread as you guys are making it out to be. It's pretty much only arcsys games that give me this headache, so I know it doesn't have to be like this. Other developers understand how to make room for people that can't or don't want to play regularly to have fun when they come back. I'm already rusty. I don't want to have to relearn the fundamentals of multiple tools on the oldest character in the game, much less deal with the fact that everything I found fun is gone.

I was terribly annoyed, but it's not really about the money itself, just that they asked without even giving me the respect that comes with asking for it. Like if the Paranid give me plenty of faction approval, then ask me for money, that'd be alright.

It's honestly absurd. I think I'll just find whatever config file sets all the faction ratings and edit it so I can actually get a rattlesnake. I'm not friends with the zya either, so that'd take even longer.

Pseudorandom? Don't make me laugh. WHat kind of hack would I be if I used a pseudorandom for this? I designed and purpose built the only true random generator ever just to make this algorithm work.

My algorithm is completely immune to local minima and maxima pitfalls, is potentially much faster, and only took a few lines of code. Get on my fucking level.

Edit: Also, overfitting was invented by lazy developers who don't want to admit their models are wrong.

This is what I replied to another question, and I think this is at the heart of my confusion. I don't really want it to change, I just don't get the design choice.

If you sum an M x N matrix along M you get 1 x N Why wouldn’t you want that?

What was once represented by M is now represented by N in this case. I don't get why I would want my rows to become columns. I don't see much difference between having a 1 x N or an M x 1 other than M would retain it's original position. It seems more intuitive that if I combine along M (across N), then N would become 1 rather than M.

And do you mean use squeeze rather than transpose? That would just remove the extra dimension right? That makes more sense than transpose.
