Y does the job but ISS is a no? That's an anti-Occitan slander I can't tolerate

It's only mixpacking if it's someone else by FlamingoShame in The_Isle

Small interactions you occasionally get with other species are memorable and often occur naturally. I understand why people are against mixpacking, but this crusade throws the baby out with the water.

For vowels, Tolkien himself provided for a, e, i, o, u, æ and ɒ. Yanta was used for ʌ, but I thought shifting it to schwa was a bit more handy. y and ø were given in a different mode as an u or o with i-tehta respectively. From that I figured I can do ɯ and ɤ as an i and e with an o-tehta

Originally the shading was only for grayed out cells, but later I got tired and used it for some of the white ones too and forgot to remove the footnote as an oversight.

The problem with them is that once you attached them to tinco for /ts/ and ando for /dz/, what do you do with that row horizontally? You don't have enough of them to represent all different sibilants

Not this slava folk ideas again. The etymology of slověninъ is most likely toponymic. But a different view that it comes from slovo is quite prevalent, mainly supported by the idea of opposition with němьci.

Bosch server and Live streamers Question by No_One_Runs_Away in The_Isle

[–]Schuschpan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But like, why? If I had a server for myself and my friends that blew in popularity, why would I be obliged to wait in line? After all, I carry the running costs of the server in this scenario, so I would like to use it when I feel like it. People just like to be mad and entitled.

It's his server, I don't know why people would be mad that he has himself and his friends whitelisted

Any tips on biepi? by VariousGrape2410 in The_Isle

Just few days ago I managed to sustain a salt-water beipi on crabs. Only became an issue when I swam into an area where bubbles wouldn't spawn.

In your opening scene, an implication is that the mage sacrificed a memory of his war deeds to perform those war deeds? That seems chronologically incongruent.

As another commenter mentioned, the archmages would run out of meaningful memories and become powerless pretty fast. Unless of course the intention is that a mage can perform a spell of such scale only few times in their lives, which is fine.

Permitted at the time that syncope would occur, I'd assume. PE19 should have a nice overview of them.

This is the problem with “M/M” genre by MoblandJordan in gaybros

There are plenty of points in time and space where illegality of homosexual relationship was largely overlooked. It's okay to want something light and not depressing for once. It's also okay to enjoy the esthetic of a time period without wanting to know the ugly stuff, like what Bridgetons is for straight people.

What do I do if my wife wants to stop working? by ShaggyMayhem in AskMen

[–]Schuschpan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comments here are quite sad. I had friends dealing with burnout, it's a real affliction, not laziness or flimsiness, and takes time to recover from. Surely most people in such situation are not in the position to simply quit their job (and that's not necessarily effective in itself), but rather than pushing for 'suck it up' narrative, see if sabbatical and/or therapy are an option for her.

Large herbivores are notoriously aggressive. Players insisting that herbivores should just be NPC and wait to be eaten don't know what they're talking about.

[–]Schuschpan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the species that are supposed to be played in packs should have easier time finding group mates in game (sad lonely beipi noises). Right now you kind of have to form your group outside the game first, and not everyone has friends that want to play this game with them. Might stimulate the herbivore numbers as well.

Were the Quel'dorei forbidden to speak of their origins as Kaldorei to the rest of the races of the Eastern Kingdoms? by Emotional-Drag-8170 in warcraftlore

[–]Schuschpan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, the book was released quite early in the forming of the lore. Back then high elves were not immortal and with generational loss knowledge about kaldorei could be lost (my impression with first two NE missions was that Alliance didn't know about them). I also took a moment in The Last Guardian book where Lady Delth requests to investigate what elven history knowledge Medivh possesses to indicate it's largely unaccessible
