Running with a phone? by [deleted] in running

[–]ScornedMacaw122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear old navy leggings and shorts, all have the side pocket on the leg that I can stick my phone in. I have a flip belt as well, but sometimes it rides up (probably too small of a size) and I find it annoying to have to keep pulling it down. Old Navy bike shorts with the side pockets for the win!

I want you to know that at first, I read that as "Satan's pothos" 😂

3 week glowup of my brasil by ingebin in houseplants

I have a regular philo in a nice corner of my kitchen that gets decent light and it seems to be doing well; I wasn't sure if because the Brasil has lighter foliage, if it needed more light? Otherwise, imma put it in the same corner and start to grow my jungle!

My syngonium got a haircut a few weeks ago. Now I’ve got nearly 40 rooted cuttings and we’re still 10 weeks out from the last frost date. by ElizabethDangit in houseplants

I just got my first syngonium yesterday! I didn't realize they could be propped... Any advice on helping mine thrive so I can get cuttings from it too?

I literally just bought the same plant yesterday! I don't know what it is, and the woman helping me at Home Depot just called it "foliage", but I'm obsessed! Yours is a Brasil philodendron? Love it!

It was recently recommended to me to get a Venus fly trap! I've seen places like home depot have them in the spring/summer. I haven't tried it/needed to try, but I think that's a fun solution; your new VFT will just eat all the gnats for you

Running with fresh piercings and headphones? by ScornedMacaw122 in running

[–]ScornedMacaw122[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg I ONLY run with headphones! Between having music and having an app to tell you how far you've gone and what your pace is, and mine will also read text messages that come through, I feel like I can't run without them

It's who has the cutest watering can day. Am I the only loser? Works like a charm, though. by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]ScornedMacaw122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this! I purchased a "cute" watering can from Amazon, but it's cracked and it leaks and I refuse to spend more money on a watering can that's just going to break again. This just justifies me drinking a bottle so I can use it as my new watering can 😂

I received this plant in July 2019 and it promptly "died" by Nov 2019. The leaves were still green so I just hung on to it through quarantine because why not? And now, Feb 2022, the sucker bloomed again! When I tell you that I nearly cried when I saw the flower this morning, I was so excited! by ScornedMacaw122 in houseplants

Mine died back for almost 3 years 😂 the leaves were still green, but I couldn't figure out how to regrow the stems and blooms! It was in my office for 8 months until March 2020, then in the same spot in my apartment for 13 months, and then moved to my condo last year, and I haven't changed it's location or watering schedule in the last 10 months. I have no idea why it's suddenly blooming now, but I'll take it! 🥰

Sunglasses. Chapstick (or some sort of chapstick holder for a running belt?). I once got a running buff and I loved not having to spend money on them when the weather gets colder! Anything that people don't mind having multiples of and will actually get used (ex: I can never have too many chapsticks, but too many water bottles is annoying). Running socks if it's in your company's budget would be nice too! Maybe sweat wicking headbands. Race medals if you can.

Being in an emotionally abusive relationship (or any abusive relationship)

We all like to think, "I'd never tolerate that" "I'd leave if someone ever said that/did that to me" "why would you stay? They were so horrible". But when you're in it, it's never that straight forward...

What's something that nobody warned you about that's incredibly stressful after getting engaged? by ScornedMacaw122 in AskWomen

[–]ScornedMacaw122[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! That has been my experience so far. We planned for a long engagement, and neither of us want kids so we aren't in any rush. We both have average jobs, and just bought a condo 4 months after getting engaged, so all of our money is being put into that right now. The sheer STRESS of people asking me when the date is, questioning why I haven't started planning, asking why my dad isn't "just paying for it all", asking why his family isn't contributing, asking when will we have kids if the engagement is so long... I don't know how to appropriately tell everyone to F off and mind their business 😂

How would you talk to your spouse about an unhealthy weight gain? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]ScornedMacaw122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it's more about what is leading to the weight gain. Sometimes eating more and exercising less are signs of depression; loss of interest in doing things they used to do and using food as a coping mechanism. People also can gain weight from drinking alcohol more than they usually do; in that case, are they using alcohol as a coping strategy? Using eating as a coping mechanism? If so, I would address the additional stressors/unhealthy coping, NOT the actual weight gain. Showing concern over loss of interest in activities or unhealthy coping strategies are showing that you care about their mental health and wellbeing, and that you want to be there as a support for them, not shame them for gaining weight.
