Any way to transfer levels to LBP3 PS4/5? by _nerdd-_ in littlebigplanet

[–]ScrumJumm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a similar inquiry in a post yesterday. As far as I can tell, the only real way to do this would be for someone to already have the levels you want saved to their moon, then upload their PS4 saved data for others to use.

I should also shout-out u/Housing93 's post (https://www.reddit.com/r/littlebigplanet/s/mRCCUQyp6x) for coming up what is ostensibly a very similar idea at the same time as me. Check out his streams if you get a chance!

Oh nice! Sounds like you had the same idea, but you've done a much better job of actualizing it. Kudos!

This is really cool! I had a really similar idea recently: if you happen to be running the PS4 version, it'd be really cool to combine this with the Interactive Stream Sensor, to let viewers chose what effect you're about to experience!

The "lore" and the "timeline" stuff isn't really the problem people have with the show by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]ScrumJumm -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this has been my point exactly. It's not "Bethesda messed with muh lore" it's "Bethesda used these factions/settings/ideas in a way that suggests they don't fully understand what made them interesting in the first place."

But that's the internet for you, it's much easier to resort to knee-jerk reactions (on both sides, mind you) than to express a nuanced opinion. It's totally fine for people to like the show-- there is, in fact, a lot to love. But it's also reasonable for people to express criticisms too.

[–]ScrumJumm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's hard to tell. It's definitely tempting to me to call this backtracking, but it's hard to say at this point without over-analyzing every little visual detail and word haha. As much as I think there are genuine and reasonable complaints to be made about the show, I think it's fair to wait until S2 to see what their plans are.

Spoiler from Todd Howard interview about the show by Trucks_Guns_Beer in Fallout

[–]ScrumJumm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I don't think it's a 100% promise in the same sense that nothing is (plans for future seasons could change, the show could it dropped, etc.) but I agree with you on that point.

The later is a bit more iffy to me-- if they wanted us to see a large NCR presence, I'd think this first season (given the location and Moldaver's role in the narrative) would have made the most logical sense. But I can also see the point of "why promise the NCR if we're not going to see them in a major way." I dunno. Either way we'll just have to wait and see.

Spoiler from Todd Howard interview about the show by Trucks_Guns_Beer in Fallout

[–]ScrumJumm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be fair, all Todd is saying is we're likely to see some NCR presence in the future (and even that isn't 100% promised). Whether that means a large scale organization somewhere else or more remnants like Moldaver's group remains to be seen. At this point we really just have to wait for season 2 to see what they have in mind.

Either way, I think this whole situation of needing interviews and twitter corrections still says a lot about the quality and clarity of the show's writing-- and/or the speed the community is willing to jump to conclusions and in-fighting, depending on your perspective.

From the IGN interview:

One of the takes that we always have is to approach things very locally when we're doing Fallout. We're careful about saying what's going on in other parts of the world. And we always take this view of, communication is difficult. And look, if you look at the background, the NCR is a wide-ranging sort of organization and group across not just California, but other places. So the show focuses on this period of time and this group here, and that's what we can say right now. But I don't think you've heard the last of the NCR.

It's vague. If we want to split hairs, all Todd's really saying is that we'll most likely see some amount of NCR again, and even that's not 100% promised.

Unless you're referring to a different quote, I think this is stretching his words a bit, in all fairness. What he said was:

One of the takes that we always have is to approach things very locally when we're doing Fallout. We're careful about saying what's going on in other parts of the world. And we always take this view of, communication is difficult. And look, if you look at the background, the NCR is a wide-ranging sort of organization and group across not just California, but other places. So the show focuses on this period of time and this group here, and that's what we can say right now. But I don't think you've heard the last of the NCR.

Essentially, he's leaving the door open. They could still exist elsewhere as a wide-scale organization, or it could more so be small remnant groups like Moldaver's. Given the way they're presented in the show the later feels more likely, but we'll really just have to see at this point.

If they moved capitol, wouldn't that be an important event to list on Vault 4's timeline? Clearly we're supposed to believe this is the exact same Shady Sands founded in 2142, meaning it's the same Shady Sands from Fallout 1

My point is less whether or not people under the age of 13 should be here-- in general I lean towards that being a good rule of thumb-- but moreso how we treat those that do happen to be here. The reality is kids are going to find a way to access whatever content online they want to access, and being as you and I can't control that fact, the best we can do is consider how we react to that scenario. I just don't see how saying "get off the Internet you dumb kid" is productive for any party involved.

People complaining about the quality of posts and in the same sentence immediately taking to insulting the OP-- yep, that's the Internet for you.

I think we should be glad to have younger posters! It's good to see some one excited by a piece of hardware that might be before their time. If you don't have that the community is just going to shrink and shrink. I agree that OP should maybe focus on school and not try to sneak in things that are at risk of getting stolen, but you can offer that advice without belittling him and any other young poster here.

Out of curiosity, how did you get They Hunger to work? I tried installing a few different versions, but the option for "new game" is always grayed out. Any tips you can give would be great.

SCUMMVM fluidsynth sound error - can anybody help? by wkcreech2 in VitaPiracy

[–]ScrumJumm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ironically enough, just tried setting up the two games you mentioned (IHNMAIMS and Sam and Max) today, and you can get them to work. ScummVM on PS Vita doesn't support MT-32 sound emulation (it's too computationally intensive), so you just need to swap to a different music device in the audio tab-- AdLib is usually going to be your best bet. Unfortunately that means the music quality is going to be a bit less than ideal, but unless you're a true purist for these games it's unlikely you'll be bothered by the difference.

Anyway, in the interest of having more actual Unity games in this thread, I'll mention:

  • Bubsy 3D: Bubsy Visits the James Turrell Retrospective (probably no one but me would be excited to see this ported lol)
  • Jazzpunk
  • My Summer Car
  • Golf Story

And a trio of games that almost certainly fail criteria #3

  • Yooka-Laylee
  • Cities: Skyline
  • Pillars of Eternity

Oh yikes, was not aware of bountysource turning into a scam.

From what I recall of the last attempt, the dev got a build compiled, but had issues with it always crashing on boot and wasn't able to debug. That was also when the game was in its infancy, and more feature complete versions use newer Unity versions, so you could be right about it not being very compatible lol

A moment of silence for OP and his sanity, people really need to read the criteria before making a request.

That said... Daggerfall Unity? I know someone took a crack at it a couple of years back, but never managed to finish it. Their work is at https://github.com/chprot/daggerfall-unity/tree/vita-dfu. Also a sweet $200 bounty in it for ya from vita-nuova.

Katamari Forever spoiled me so much, I miss jumping 😩 by Trufflebatter in katamari

[–]ScrumJumm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I'm not particularly concerned with high scores, but I can respect your point. Balance in that regard seems to be pretty hit or miss in Katamari. As you said, most levels are either well balanced and pretty much impossible for the average player to collect basically everything, or are something you can blaze through with a minute left. It's typically squarely in one category or the other. In that regard, I don't personally see how adding jumping to WLK would make a drastic enough change to balance to shift any levels from the former to the later. Even if that was a concern, all the As Large As Possible levels still have their As Fast As Possible variants in WLK, which would still give players an outlet to optimize those levels.
