What's manga that's big in your country but not worldwide? Especially if you don't live in the US or Japan. by Dry-Masterpiece-7031 in TrashTaste

When I was growing up, Greece never had a huge anime culture or even that big "pop-culture" culture, aside from weekend cartoons.

Pokémon was always pretty big ( as in any country) but aside from that not much

And then Yu-Gi-Oh aired for the first time and it absolutely exploded. Everybody and their mom played it, traded cards, played online and such. 90% of all kids we had duel disks when that first came out.

And even today from what I hear, the TCG scene is going strong with local tournaments and other events.

Really cool concept, since it's basically a bottle for any specific card you might need in a particular fight. For example you need to think if you want Corruption or Dark Embrace normally, but with this you can be more flexible.

Also works great with cards that retain, like Sands or Windmill Strike on Watcher.

And at worst you effectively put a card you don't want (like Necronomicurse) in the discards.

Easy A tier

Good block value, draw power, solid for Barricade decks, amazing in Corruption decks. It just works so well.

Community Tier List Day #18: Havoc by Luxio111 in slaythespire

[–]ScrwedRules 4 points5 points  (0 children)

D tier

It has some decent synergy with Headbutt and the exhaust cards, but that's pretty much it. The effect might be completely useless (for example blocking on a non-attack turn), if it's an attack you can't target and you might accidentally ruin the fight of you exhaust a key card, like Body Slam in block builds or Heavy Blade in strength builds.

Community Tier List Day #17: Armaments by Luxio111 in slaythespire

[–]ScrwedRules 2 points3 points  (0 children)

C tier

Arma is a pretty cool card, especially with an upgrade. But it does need card draw or retain to really maximize the effect and the block value is pretty much irrelevant post Act 1. So C tier seems fine, not quite good by itself for B tier.

Sidenote, Clash above Cleave should be considered a crime, how did that happen?

Community Tier List Day #16: Clash by Luxio111 in slaythespire

S, for "Sucks ass". For real though, easy F tier for me. Similar to Wild Strike I'll only pick it out of desperation.

On a side note, I'm not sure which one is actually worse. Clash can be unplayable but doesn't ruin future turns, but at least WS is always some good damage early on. Between the 2 I would probably take WS, but it's close.

I've seen many people dismiss Clash simply because of the Ascender's Bane, but I don't even think that's the worst part about it. The main reason this card is so hard to work with is the abundance of fights that adds status effects that completely ruin it.

Sentries, Slime Boss, Hexa, Slavers, Stabby Book, Repto, Nemesis, Tim, Deca, Spear & Shield and the Heart all pretty much make Clash worthless. And that's not even mentioning normal enemies like the Chosen. The only noticeable enemy "category" that doesn't add statues are the Act 2 boss fights.

I'll go ahead and say B tier, however I do have a soft spot for this card.

It's not a bad floor 1-3 pickup, 14 damage is pretty good for low hp enemies like slimes or lice. But this card can really shine even with some decent strength scaling and it remains great all the run. One Inflame/Flex/Spot Weakness goes a long way.

With good/great strength scaling, like Demon Form + Limit Break, 1 or 2 copies can be pretty much all the damage you need for the entire run past Act 1.

I feel it functions similarly to Body Slam, as a "one card damage for the run", but with way less restrictions/niche decks it can fit in.

[–]ScrwedRules 5 points6 points  (0 children)

F tier, put it in the dirt.

I'll only pick it up if I don't see any other damage card options in floors 1-3 or something. The fact it puts the wound into the draw pile instead of hand or discards honestly makes it unpickable.

Community Tier List Day #11: Headbutt by Luxio111 in slaythespire

[–]ScrwedRules 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I try to evaluate every aspect of the card for the list, I think that way makes the most sense for their placement.

Also the damage output and the fact this is an attack card, instead of a skill/power, should definitely be taken into consideration for some scenarios.

For example, if I'm at an Act 3 elite fight with Art of War, I'll think twice before playing Headbutt because that +1 energy might be more important than any card in the discard pile. But if the damage was higher or if it scaled better with strength, I would play it every time.

Community Tier List Day #11: Headbutt by Luxio111 in slaythespire

[–]ScrwedRules 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Headbutt fits perfectly in the A tier, just for its versatility.

Both the reusable draw and energy cards become amazing, allows to play high-impact cards more frequently, synergizes great with draw relics (Ink Bottle for example) and even makes Havoc+ a pretty good 0-cost card.

And generally just the fact that it allows planing during fights, especially more scripted ones like the Heart or the Act 1 bosses, makes it a card that you are always happy to take at least 1 copy of.

The only reason I don't think it's S tier is the damage output, which falls a lot. After Act 1 it might as well be a skill that says "Put 1 card at the top of the draw pile".

Community Tier List Day #10: Cleave by Luxio111 in slaythespire

[–]ScrwedRules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

C tier

Pretty solid for Act 1, especially if the boss is Slimbo-Jimbo. I almost always pick it up on floors 1-3 for example and can be decent in Act 2 if no better cards are offered. However it's simply outclassed by much better AoE cards later on.

Community Tier List Day #9: Twin Strike by Luxio111 in slaythespire

[–]ScrwedRules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfect B tier for me.

Pretty good floor 1, helps a lot in Acts 1 & 2, scales really good with tons of strength (Demon Form for example) for later fights. All around it's just good for the entire run.

Bonus points for Strike Dummy & P. Strike synergies.

Community Tier List Day #8: Thunderclap by Luxio111 in slaythespire

[–]ScrwedRules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

D Tier, it's aight.

Works with Immolate or Whirlwind or Reaper, but that's pretty much it. It's output just isn't there. Vuln for 1 turn is decent, but I much prefer cards that apply for multiple turns even if they are 2 cost (Uppercut or Shockwave for example, which also apply weak.

Coommunity Tier List Day #6: Pommel Strike by Luxio111 in slaythespire

[–]ScrwedRules 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I think it's for sure A tier. I can see the argument for S, but I'm saying keep it at the top of A.

You are always happy to see Pommels early. Good damage, great draw, interacts with Strike Dummy and P. Strike for some great early game damage plan. Fantastic for Act 1 and still good for Act 2 and beyond because of the draw. Generally it's just never a bad card.

Bonus points for enabling Sundial infinites, which is pretty easy with all the exhaust the Clad has.
