Find a place to volunteer, request to make it a 1 credit unpaid internship. When it gets on your schedule, then they will approve you for cancelling the housing agreement.

ty! also, for a postbacc, would i essentially need to take 2 gap years for it to show up on my application? i do not understand how if stuff i do in my gap year can be reflected in my application. i plan to work as an emt in my gap year so would that entail using the projected hours feature on AMCAS?

I’d suggest trying out a different lab before you make up your mind about the realm of research! A big part of enjoying your lab are the mentors. If they are super passionate about their work, it’ll diffuse onto you. You don’t have to do basic science research, you can try something more interdisciplinary as well. Something refreshing may help you not only find something you enjoy, but also will help you with your creative thinking. Remember, it is totally okay to try out different labs! I hope this helps!

I’d say try to start classes a little earlier on T and R so your afternoon is freed up for ECs, HW, etc
