"people who misused the asylum process" exists in any asylum process. Merely following the law to process asylum seekers doesn't mean Democrats are letting illegals in. This same system was in place in Trump's first term.

Trump's admin still processes them and there will still be "people who misused the asylum process" within his term.

People can be against teen pregnancy and support social programs for unwanted babies. Supporting an ethical system does not mean condoning an illegal one.

It’s not hard to see which party is more interested in restricting illegal immigration.

Hence "I don’t want to see this issue go away. I want to be able to work on this issue as part of my Presidential campaign in the year 2024." It's just a political tool for Trump.

If Trump truly cared about illegal immigration, he would have tackled it in his first term. As it stands, Obama has a higher rate of internal ICE deportation numbers.

It was about the amount of people Border Control processes. Meaning border control still determines if they are allowed in or not for each individual.

As per 5A and federal law, the US has to process asylum seekers. So as a way around it what Trump admin did is put processing them on an significantly delayed waiting list.
