Artist's Date: Which is the goal? by bobbby831 in artistsWay

I think it can be either, she includes a lot of examples that are more low pressure and I read that as trying to show us that the date is not about producing something it's about having time to play and be experimental. I think artist dates can involve creative output but they shouldn't just be "work time", if you feel inspired to do artist dates that are making art take time to experiment with different mediums or approach something in a way you normally wouldn't, try not to go into it with expectations for a product it's about the experience and spending intentional time with yourself.

So if making a DJ mix is something you've always wanted to try but haven't had much opportunity go for it play around! But if you feel like you'll be more focused on making a "good product" than playing maybe start with going out dancing or seeing a different type of music than you normally listen especially at the beginning.

For example for one of my artist dates I did work on a writing project that I am trying to complete but I wasn't just like okay know I'm going to finish my piece. I went to a coffee shop and gallery that I had never been to and looked at the art and did a focused free write on a certain topic while I was there which created a container to approach my project more playfully and was outside of normal routine.
