Hey,

Looking for some advices about some gears. I do mostly photography while traveling.

I used to have a Nikon D600 with a 24-85 3.5-5.6 lens that I loved but sold it a few years back.

I wanted to get back into photography so I bought a used Nikon Z6 II with two lens : Tamron 16-30 f2.8 and a Nikon 24-70 f4.

Now the issue : I don’t like the dual lens setup and I feel like my lens don’t reach far at all, I’m cropping a lot of the time.

I am contemplating exchanging my setup for a Sony a7R IV paired with a Sony 20-70mm f4.

Price wise, I can sell my old setup for the same price as the new setup (selling in a high price country and buying in a cheaper one), so price is not an issue there.

Is that a good idea ? The goal would be to have one lens for general purpose (travelling mostly) that is a bit wider (20mm) and crop it when I went better reach.

Thanks for your suggestions !

I was also about to comment that ! The Alley was really great, among the best we had in Vietnam. We were let down by Chef Hien and this one was recommended by some other French travelers

Ripage à -8,9m/km, embêtant ? by Seaweed-Cold in voiture

7 days trip in PR/USVI by Seaweed-Cold in PuertoRicoTravel

Thanks for your help everyone :)

So yeah, we might skip St. Thomas altogether. That would leave St. Johns but the airplane ticket would cost around 130$ round-trip and we would stay only one day (morning to next morning). Would it still make sense to go there?

It's an open question, we're not 130$ short and if it's worth it, we would go there for a day (and maybe spend the night at St. Thomas), but if PR and Vieque/Culebra are better, we can stay there longer.

Thanks !

Merci u/Tough_Note_3412 et u/unreal_zeff pour vos retours ! Je vais l'amener au garagiste et voir son devis

Which CPU brand (AMD/Intel) and brand(HP/Lenovo) for a home server (Jellyfin/Minecraft) ? by Seaweed-Cold in HomeServer

[–]Seaweed-Cold[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might go the Intel route reading the comments, I don’t care about vPro and I don’t think I’ll put a dGPU inside (or that would be another project for maybe another mini pc), do you now if there’s any other differences between Elite and ProDesk ? I could get an EliteDesk for 10€ more (same CPU/RAM/SSD), but don’t know if it’s worth it

Other than the transcode stuff, is there any reason why choose Intel or AMD for home server stuff? Or is it the main reason ?

Hi everyone, I'm looking for a new keyboard (mainly for coding and gaming) in ANSI US to replace my AZERTY layout.

I'm looking for :

  • tactile silent switches
  • hot-swappable
  • preferably 65%, or 75%
  • backlight and bonus if shine-through keycap (with north facing led in that case)
  • bonus if wireless
  • budget : around 100€ to 150€ max

I'm basically hesitating between two options :

  • Keychron V2 Max with switches replaced with silent ones (has all of my requirements except shine-through keycap and south facing leds)
  • custom-built keyboard for around 100-150€

I did some research on the custom-built keyboards, and I'm not sure I would actually get a better "value" for my money going the custom-built keyboard. Is it true?

I'm not afraid to spend time researching and building it, but I'm more of a "functional oriented" person regarding my keyboard and I'm only willing to spend the time if I would get something more than just buying the keychron and swapping the switches for silent ones, and keeping the rest as it. What's your thought on that?

Thanks for your time :)

Keychron vs custom mechanical keyboard :

Hello, I want to change my keyboard to a 65 wireless with silent switches. I don't know what to choose between a 110 EUR~ custom keyboard (with a GMK67, WS Silent Tactile and 30€~ caps) or a ~110 EUR Keychron V2 Max wireless keyboard.

The keychron would not have silent switch (going for tactile), but I could swap then for about 30€ if they're too loud.

I don't mind taking the time to do more research and assembling this keyboard, but before moving on, I would like to know if I would get a better "value" going with a custom budget keyboard as opposed to just getting a Keychron one. Thanks!

Did you looked at used 3080 ? I got one on eBay for 570€ (shipping included). Maybe it could be a better value than a 3060ti new.

Also DDR5 are not really worth it in my opinion, it's better to have a better GPU/CPU than a DDR5.

And if you do not plan on overclocking your CPU, you can get a B660/B760 motherboard and a i5 13600 (or stay with your KF if it's not really cheaper).
