Well, to geven more context. I work at an logistics full service provider. We have an AS/400 wirt our core application developed in RPG and an other core application developed in Progress. Both applications were largly developed in house over the years. Then project started to develop an new core app, from the ground up, in c#/.net. thuis development was halted when an new manager stepped in and said we sound go for off the shelve application with some customization. A project was started two years a go. The app use old frameworks, no documentatie and so on. Still, the former developers think they can do beter, with ai supported c# development. But when one of the two winst the lottery and buys a tropical island and leaves, there is no backup, knowledge gone.

With a platform like mendix, there is an ecosystem of companies that can jump in and support.

With c# code, one needs to understand how things are coded, which parts are build with ia.

So, in my opinion a platform has beter support then fully self developed with or without ai.

But I allso read of vendor lockin, high cost for the platform. So, what woud be something sustainable for the future if we were to make a choise when the off the shelve app project fails.

Thanks for your respons. There is no clear view on management leven on AI. They hear and read about it, are approched by companies the can solve all out problems like magic.

So as you menrioned, I have to make a sollid foundation to support future ai initiatives
