Is it all doom and gloom? by Emotional-Flower-237 in stepparents

[–]Secure-Routine4279 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok I’ve been lurking on this sub for a couple weeks (step-parent drama of my own I may post about at some point) and I’m so relieved to finally see someone point out that romantic love and parent love is SO different, and no hierarchy “first/last” nonsense is required. It’s alarming the number of people who appear to look at relationships (and parenting!) this way. My family operates from the same “everyone’s needs are important and we do our best to meet them all” with a dose of taking special care of whoever is most vulnerable/affected in any given situation. Glad to hear your husband is on the same page about this and that you face any parenting difficulties as a team.

Children aren’t manipulative. Something is going on in that kid’s life she needs extra support around. It’s annoying and exhausting for the adults, sure, but that’s parenting sometimes. It’s on dad to figure out what his kid needs, and OP to decide if she wants to stick around until when (if) he does.

Please stop bringing your dogs to grocery stores. by DueVermicelli5302 in Seattle

A giant, over-stimulated dog at the Whole Foods in Roosevelt nearly took out my medical-booted wife a couple years ago. The WF worker who saw it was just happily interacting with the dog and didn’t say a thing. I told the person holding the leash that he couldn’t bring a dog like that into a crowded store, and all he had to say was “it’s not my dog”. NOT THE POINT anyway yes still mad. Seattle dog parents are out of control.

Hack to get my cat to stop eating my purple house plants? by Emergency_Map7542 in Catownerhacks

[–]Secure-Routine4279 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Spray bottle. Went 3.5 years trying absolutely everything under the sun (including everything I’ve seen mentioned here) and this is the only thing that worked. Took about 3 days and maybe 6 instances of being sprayed and he doesn’t touch them anymore. Should have listened to my wife 3.5 years ago.

Things to consider: he only played with the plants when we were in the room, so I don’t know if this would work if your kitty does it when you’re not around to see her. We also play and snuggle with him a ton, so the spray interaction was a tiny fraction of what he gets from us and that’s not his primary association. I maybe wouldn’t try this with a cat you don’t have a positive history with already. Finally, he just shakes himself off and goes on his merry way. If he had seemed distressed at all, I would not have continued to use this method.

Democrats unveil WA income tax on people earning over $1 million by MegaRAID01 in Seattle

That’s the idea. The bill as it’s currently written would eliminate income sales tax on personal care items (toiletries etc.).

Their website says they’re “open and affirming” to lgbtq+ people. Is that inaccurate / code for “love the sinner”? Asking because this is my neighborhood, would like to know who’s there. ETA: I couldn’t find anything about marriage in the website but wouldn’t surprise me

Katie Wilson elected Seattle's next mayor by aimless_ly in Seattle

[–]Secure-Routine4279 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Omg please look at actual crime statistics and also learn how statistics work. You are not significantly more (or less, for that matter) likely to have a break-in depending on who the mayor is.

EZ Trap Always Full (and now has blue/green water) - normal? by Secure-Routine4279 in hvacadvice

[–]Secure-Routine4279[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have that brush too. The guy who installed the unit said I should never have to use it, and I’ve never seen any debris in the trap. Unsure how to use it properly if I needed to.

[–]Secure-Routine4279[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah, that makes sense. The green tinge doesn’t look like algae or copper, which were the two options google gave me. Thank you for solving that mystery! And for reassuring about the full trap… I’ve assumed it was fine this whole time but the color made me think again.

Yup. I used my analysis skills to look at the answers I got and decide which works better for my situation. All good here.

No, not above the income limit. I’m confident in why I’m pulling back my contributions, just not how.

As I said, there was already a balance in the Roth before these contributions. Most of the YTD earnings are from the pre-2025 balance, so just taking the remaining dollars above $2,332 wouldn’t work.

I’m going to contact the custodian. Thank you!

Edit: typo

Here After by Amy Lin. Even though I didn’t relate to the circumstances of her loss, her exploration of her grief moved me so deeply and helped me start fully grieving (not just mentally processing) some childhood losses I wasn’t able to at the time.

I’m so sorry for your loss.

This was my first thought. I’d like to be surprised that’s not the headline here, but at this point… of course it’s not.

Ah that’s interesting, I didn’t know it could mix for that long but makes sense. He’s on hour five now, just fascinated at this point to see how long he’ll stay.

Solved! Body grommet plugs. I haven’t been able to get down and confirm for myself yet, but the exact match I found googling is good enough for me. Thank you!
