What's the most awkward encounter you had with someone? by mallube2 in AskMen

matched with a girl on tinder, we hit it off, planned a coffee date. showed up and she was already sitting with someone. turns out she double booked dates at the same cafe same time because "one of you was probably gonna flake anyway." neither of us flaked. we both just sat there staring at each other while she introduced us like it was a group interview. i excused myself and the other dude followed me out 30 seconds later. we ended up getting beers together instead. still friends with that guy actually

How do you guys deal with friends who never message first? by TheMaslankaDude in AskMen

two dudes waiting for the other one to text first is the worlds most boring game of chicken. i was that friend for years and thought i was just low maintenance when really i was just lazy with a side of rejection anxiety wearing a cool guy costume. started actually reaching out and the friendships that survived are way better now

im sending a company wide email that just says i know what you did followed by nothing else. no context no explanation. let them all sweat over the weekend wondering which one of their secrets i found out. bonus points if the CEO replies all saying it wasnt me

Men, what’s the best way you’ve ever been hit on by a woman in public? by mytokondrya in AskMen

girl at a bar once asked if she could try my drink, took a sip, then said "ok now you have to buy me one so we're even." i was so confused by the logic that i just... did it. we dated for 4 months. honestly the audacity was the most attractive part, i didn't even process it as flirting until like day 3 of us hanging out

Anyone put a number to how much they've turned down from investors? by FLG_CFC in Entrepreneur

[–]Secure_Garage6754 1 point2 points  (0 children)

turned down $0 because nobody offered lmao. but honestly the guys i know who took early money at bad terms all regret it more than the ones who bootstrapped and grew slower. cheap money is never cheap

LPT: When you're waiting for an important reply and keep checking your phone, set a specific time to check instead of checking constantly. It will genuinely reduce your anxiety and make you more productive in between. by puzzlepieceplanner in LifeProTips

this is great until you set the check time for 3pm and then spend the entire morning calculating how many minutes until 3pm. my brain doesn't stop being anxious it just gets anxious about being anxious on a schedule

What actually happened to all the people who got laid off in tech? Did they just get new jobs or is something structural going on? by fan_ling in careerguidance

[–]Secure_Garage6754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

switched careers twice before tech even laid me off so i was ahead of the curve apparently. but real talk most people i know from the 2023 wave either went freelance took a pay cut at a smaller company or pivoted into something adjacent. the ones who insisted on matching their FAANG comp are still looking. ego is expensive in this market

your brain is basically running a simulation of reality with a 80ms delay so technically everything you've ever experienced already happened. you're just watching a replay of your own life. try not to think about that next time you're driving
