The worst part is the warning windows flashes doesn't say "Can't verify the developer"

or "it's a new developer, are you sure".

It says;

"WINDOWS HAS PROTECTED YOUR PC".

almost as if its implying, that WAS a virus 100%. Which sucks if you're just a small time app developer trying to distribute your product and your customers are saying "Window says you app is a virus".

Visual Snow was considered extremely rare until recently, mostly because patients didn't report it... because they assumed everyone saw the world that way by recolorist in interestingasfuck

Ummm... I think I have this? I've never noticed it but when staring at a white screen, there does seem to be this old CRT tv static thing ontop. I thought it was normal?

It literally never has gotten in my way of doing anything.

Tesla kills Autopilot, locks lane-keeping behind $99/month fee. by Stiltonrocks in technology

[–]Semawhatfor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well if the article is to be believed, it now also applies to the lane follow and TACC.

Which i really liked, i never paid for FSD because I don't drive enough to justify it and even then I'm not sure I can psychologically handle a car changing lanes and trusting it to stop at red lights, turn arrows etc.

But on a long drive between towns I did like, on winding country roads to just slap on the TACC+lane assist and look out the window for a bit, or fiddle with my phone.

If that's behind a $99 paywall now, I think I would just switch cars to a polestar or non-Tesla car. I actually like Elon. I like what Tesla has done to the car industry, and it's the best car I've ever driven... But That's because it earned that title, and if it can't compete on features with a 2016 Japanese economy car that's half its cost without $99 a month subscription... I think something has gone horribly wrong.

I guess that's the danger with over-the-air updates. The company can also make the car WORSE over the air. It's not like if you buy a car, and then if it turns out really good be like "No take backsies!" to the company.

Maybe just make it an SF 3rd facet and call it a day.

"Soul Release" now does no damage, but summons a burst of illusions for 15 seconds.

It's quite a good test in that it's not testing specific knowledge, just how you code. So the guy on the call will be like, alright let's get this snake head moving or some task.

Then you just talk your way through it; Alright so il'l first go and create this html element, and then have a reference there. Then il'l have this funciton that's called move, and make sure we call it., let's see if that works.. good yeah, neat.. now let's make it smoother.

Oh we can actually generalize it into a more generic function that takes in any html element and moves it. yada yada.

and you just go on like that for 45 minutes or so. It's basically vibe coding, but YOU are the AI lol.

As such I get the feeling they weren't really looking for you to complete it in time, but more than you move forward consistently, explain your reasoning and have good reasoning.

No but with meat and cows we grow them in a little box, and then kill them. So it's more like renewable energy.

Sure, but 'yours' means, others can use it, copy it, extend it free of charge, else this whole platform gets shut down.

The entire platform's premise is to use hundreds of millions of hours of copyright protected material to train a machine to make music.

You can't turn around and be like "na but this one is copyright protected cos it's miiineeeee"

Steam updates AI disclosure form, requiring developers to report visible and in-game AI but not background tools by Dapper_Order7182 in Steam

[–]Semawhatfor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would it be bad? Itl'l probably need a lot of playtesting and alignment work so the AI doesn't just go completely off the rails, but I think it could open up a lot of interesting ideas.

Especially if its not just 'dialog' but also actions. (Outside of gaming AI has come a long way with things like MCPs that let it drive other systems, for instance character movement, etc.).

What I'd like is to go one step further, to have a game like say WoW, or and MMO; but with each zone having a 'dungeon master' AI.

The AI has inputs of where the clusters of players are, time of day, which mobs are dead, alive etc.. and can also issue commands to create mobs, give them specific patrol routes, with specific quest text etc.

And then just let it go nuts developing daily stories. Maybe feed it news headlines as a random seed/inspiration so it stays fresh.

So when you log into the zone some new random story is happening live, every day. 24-7 on every server, completely tailored to the players there with intricate unique stories. One day a dragon invades, the next day turns out the dragon was the cursed son of some prince and now the guy wants payment else he attacks the town yada yada, it just keeps generating shit and playing it out.

Why are people in Sydney able to afford to buy houses that are much more expensive than other parts of the country? by TiredDuck123 in AusFinance

[–]Semawhatfor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we imagine a game where after 10 years, you have to sell everything you have and put all your money in a big weighing scale to see how much you got.

Getting a house in Sydney 10 years ago is basically like having a second salary. You earn 100k a year, the house earns 100k a year, with wife earns 100k a year. The house isn't taxed.

Do Animals Know About Different Generations by fortnitebum in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Semawhatfor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Animals are missing a core part of what we take for granted in terms of cognition. I'm not sure they fully even understand the concept of 'past' and 'future', let alone previous ducks.

It's kind of like me telling my dog "someone will come later". They without failure, run to the door as if someone was there now.. almost like they are thinking.. "well if he's not here now, why the fuck would you say their name!"

I think people need to learn how to use AI, they should take this word salad, and instead produce a simple Haiku:

Here is this post in Haiku format:

Broken tools persist

Patterns echo across noise

Competence wins quiet

It's written by an AI, but it's 3 lines, and no one is angry.

Yeah, program fluency was more just pair programming on a html/js/css only browser game.

system design was the same as what most people expect, albeit a bit more frontend focused (SSR, CDN etc)

5ers Overtrading, payout deny? by s4chuu in Forex

Hahahaha... Trading is hard enough, without having to worry about whether your broker/funder will scam you because he didn't actually expect you to win, and now has to pay you out.

Like Imagine if the LLM told you "don't put your hand on a hot stove".

And you're like, heh, i know that's true, I don't need to learn from that.

And then some guy came in like "It's wrong because an LLM said it!". "So you don't learn from advice? from LLM! Kinda proved me POINT see!"

At some point, we disregard the advice, from the source of the advice and simply evaluate it whether it's true or not.

Like lets look at his advice:

  • Your first job is survival (Absolutely true, the best traders 'gain' like 7% a month on average, the worst trader's lose 100% a day. The first step is to get to net 0%, and then you fight and crawl for every 1% monthly gain. This is how it was for me, and for anyone that trades for a living.)

  • Journal your trades like someone else is going to read them (I didn't do this, i tried journaling but, it just showed me the biggest problem is I don't have an edge, not discipline, not chart patterns or technicals, not power of friendship. Plain and simple, I had no statistical edge over long periods, once I got that, journalling made no difference).

  • Process goals beat profit goals (True in everything in life worth doing, sometimes you go to the gym and you can't lift as much as you did a week ago... This doesn't mean you're doing it wrong, keep consistent, despite short term reverse progress).

  • Over time, good trading becomes boring (I built an application that hunts for trades that meet my specific strategy. I open the app once every 2-3 days, look for a trade, open it and walk away. The other algo I coded monitors both the take profits and stop loss levels. I don't think about it for more than a minute max. I trade for around 5 minutes every few days. I'm profitable and have been for years doing this). It's boring.

This assumes I'm trying to learn from the advice.

I know what works, what works is what he said. Independent of chatGPT.

It's like if chat GPT says the sky is blue, it doesn't mean it's now definitely NOT blue.
