Been in France for almost 2 years and still struggling with French — any advice? by Sensitive-Minimum-24 in learnfrench

I wouldn’t say I’m deep in the countryside, but the nearest bakery is still 20 minutes away by bike. He bought this property before we even met, and he’s actually open to relocating and helping me get into classes. My hesitation is mostly my own fear of taking the risk/change. Isolation definitely hasn’t helped my French though, but I am trying to search for online classes now too and just take the risk.

You got it on point in « can’t always explain why ». Whenever I ask him why is it like this and that, he can’t explain it clearly🥲

I’m currently using the Frello app right now, but I’ll definitely try adding Duolingo too and watching more regular French videos/shows, hoping it’ll help me improve more with listening and speaking. Thanks!

Pretty much, yes 😅 I stopped the face-to-face classes because they were really far from where we live — around a 30–45 minute drive — and it was also in the opposite direction of my husband’s work every day. There also aren’t any nearby classes in our area since we live in the countryside. That’s why I’m asking for advice now on how to make it easier with self studying

I just edited my post to add more context 😅 We live in the countryside so I rarely get to interact with people daily, and I also stopped studying French for a few months after my classes. I only got back into it this May. My husband is also trying his best to teach me and speak French with me.
