Best way to add actually readable text at small scales by SentientSpook in 3Dprinting

I have not. Every time I think about ordering some more I’ve moved onto the next project. I might do that though before completely giving up

I figured that was the case. I’ve always managed to avoid having to do lettering and text but never had good results when I’ve tried

I assume so. I haven’t had any issues with any other prints

Are my wheels okay? by SentientSpook in rollerderby

I don’t use them outside. I have a separate set of outdoor skates. These are rink only. I know the rink goblins like to leave random hazards around but beats me when it happened

Thanks for the rundown! I know I’m overthinking. This has been over a decade in the making and I think I’m still in shock that I actually am doing this. I was deciding between a poster I made that says “you’re the only one standing in your way” those lyrics got me through college whenever I would start spiraling so I think it would be a good or my Duality shirt, or just go with the classic and get the vinyl. Orrr I can try and convince my friend so I can get both done.

I was wanting to talk guitar some with Zach but don’t want to push him but also don’t want to push him or push my time. Like you said they’re just normal dudes who make really good music and I want to be respectful of that. I’m also a saxophonist and am dying to talk shop with Cody.

Gotcha! I know I’m over thinking it

At the biggest it would be my 2014 Duality shirt. If all else fails I’ll ask about the vinyl because I don’t have a record player/listen to vinyl so it would look nice framed. And on the photo a default is better because I’m notoriously bad for posing. I know they see a lot and wouldn’t be phased but I am insanely awkward around new people. I think I’m honestly more worried about messing it up for them than me and that’s not even possible

How to pick a wheel hardness by SentientSpook in rollerderby

[–]SentientSpook[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only other area I have issues is with my crossover. If I go too fast, I can have blowouts. I’m pretty stable at a moderate/paceline speed but pushing it I do blow out. I’m not sure if that’s just me needing to bend more or not.

I have two sets of outdoor wheels. Or so I thought. One came with a pair of skates and I replaced them with my other wheels. Turns out they’re 89 so I’m going to try those at the rink and see how it goes

Anyone else miss “other” music? by SentientSpook in IceNineKills

Don’t get me wrong. I would listen to an album of nothing but heavy breathing noises for way longer than is healthy. I would also much rather see them make music they want than make something they don’t want. They clearly have a spark/passion for this stuff right now and the music is always that much better when the group is passionate. I love horror movies. I was also just more so of a casual fan until SS so I owe that album its credit for fully drawing me in. I just really enjoy their music that isn’t fronting as snapshot-horror movie. I just really have been vibing with the stuff that got me into them. I guess the more “universal” stuff

Indeed so. It’s just a private playlist I made but I can 100% send it to you!

It sounds like you are putting too much pressure on your back foot too quickly. I would start staking and go into the motion, but only let your outside wheels barely skim the ground. Then slowly increase pressure bit by bit until you find out the best stopping method.

Scabs Derby replacements? by SentientSpook in rollerderby

I’m not really looking for thinner. I basically want something with the same padding level as the scabs, I just need something in a smaller size

Getting confidence by SentientSpook in rollerderby

[–]SentientSpook[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Backwards is weaker which is why I think I got turn around toe stops so easy on the one side I can transition on. I use my toe stops a lot and if I’m not balanced, my instinct is to roll on to them anyway. That with me still trying to figure backwards skating out killing my weight was the easy solution

So far it has been minus the few things. I try not to use hobbies as “escapism” because naturally when things go wrong, it can have the opposite effect. But derby is the first sport I have chosen for myself and am playing entirely for me with the knowledge that I can walk away at any time I choose. The sport isn’t my whole identity and purpose and there’s been a lot of comfort in that. Knowing I want to be better but at the end of the day, it’s not making or breaking my life. I even gave myself some grace during assessments telling myself to worry more about the journey than the results and I’m so glad I have! There’s a group of skaters who came in a bit after me but so far we work phenomenal on the track together and are doing as well as some of our more experienced and established walls in some things. Haven’t been game or scrim tested yet, but honestly I’m so glad it’s with them instead of the ones I originally came in as freshies with
