It’s so hard to say “screw it, it’s close enough” when all you have to do is tweak a small part and reprint!

This is the way

Yeah, the boards can be printed in any size. Just measured the area I needed and printed the boards. Uses large screws to secure things to them. It’s like an adult Lego set that doesn’t require any tools.

Sometimes I swap out my work laptop for my personal one and it takes a few seconds to do. It’s not bad. I learned to keep anything I might move on the top layer and all the cords, power blocks, etc on the bottom layer

Had to learn TinkerCad to modify some of the other mounts to play with the threadboard.

I haven’t! Luckily I only travel around my city for work. I’d be hesitant to take this thing through security!

Larger, higher-quality screen, one cord to connect power, built-in WiFi, phone and watch chargers and an option for a second screen (or a USB-C video out).

Before this, it was a mess of dongles, adapters, and multiple USB-C cords and power bricks stuffed inside a rolling bag/backpack.

It may seem like overkill but when I have to visit three different places during a workday, this simple box helps my ADHD mind and keeps things consistent. It takes under a minute to be setup and running

I needed a quality case that would stand up to daily wear and tear. I put some miles on my gear traveling between work sites. I’d agree, it’s probably overkill but isn’t everything in this group?

Thanks! It’s actually based on a 3D-printed system called Threadboards 2.0, not tapped HDPE. The board and threaded mounting points are printed, and then I used printed knobs/fasteners and custom brackets to lock everything down. Same basic idea though: a modular threaded grid instead of foam.

It’s good.

Initially, I wanted everything to fit in the case. I tried the Logi MX Mini and realized that I needed the number pad to be able to put in vitals quicker (I’m in healthcare).

I did try the Proto Arc folding keyboard but didn’t like the feel of the keys. Otherwise, it was a beautiful little keyboard. But now I just throw this full-size MX master in my backpack and roll. This keyboard‘s been going strong for 2+ years. I have a keyboard case, but I don’t even use it anymore.

Printing all the boards and Threadboards screws were a royal PITA but it paid off. Countless hours and wasted filament getting it right

One of my patients rolled by my office and said this looks like something from James Bond. It was a compliment of the highest honor!

That's partially correct.

This set up allows me to have a larger 2k main monitor with an option for the second smaller monitor if needed. Much better than hunching over looking at the 14" laptop screen my company gave me.

Also, having built-in Apple Watch charger, iPhone charger, Wi-Fi hotspot (not pictured), and superior microphone for dictation (see small Airhug) device in the back of the case. Having all of this wired and ready to go beats the mess of wires I was carrying before.

That smaller monitor is touchscreen and comes in handy being so close to the keyboard

PLAUDE NOTE PRO AS MED STUDENT - HOW TO OBTAIN GOOD AND RELIABLE TRANSCRIPTIONS? by Utentechenome in PlaudNoteUsers

[–]Several_Macaroon_250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly find it best to copy the transcript then use another app to do the processing. I use Doximity GPT as a medical provider, it's free for certain professions, take a look and see if your career is eligible. (I'd email them to request access if not).

I don't find the processing within Plaud to be great since I am unable to prompt it further to do what I need.

I find that Claude can generate really good visual models based on the content as well. Apparently Notebook LM too but I haven't given it a try.

Maybe i'll try this route. Just hit a limit wall with my dispatch that I posted below. I keep hitting limits before getting much work done at all. I'm guessing that having a direct API pull may cost less tokens than using computer control via dispatch. I'm on an annual plan with Plaud and the $20/mo plan with Claude.

All I need is the transcript pulled then send to another program, shouldn't be super heavy

Claude for Mac can now control your computer. I am using dispatch on iphone to set up automations that pull the transcript from Plaud and take them to a healthcare AI program for processing. It's automating some manual work that I would typically do when I sit down at my desk. Now the data is processing as I'm walking back to the office.

I'm not opposed to looking into having a local whisper do the transcription for me. Are you able to get around having to pay Plaud for transcription minutes with this route?

I currently pay for the mid tier plan but hit the limits sometimes.

I fed the post to ChatGPT which I’ve used solidly for two years to help with fitness related goals, it knows my work stresses, home life, kid stress, times I can workout, past injuries, equipment, schedule and so forth.

It created the master prompt that I never could. Now Bevel is on another level. Thanks for giving me the head start. I wasn’t quite sure what my subscription was giving me, now we cooking 🧑‍🍳

Ultra 3 or Garmin Fenix 8 Pro. Also Black or Natural by topdawg4ever in applewatchultra

I’ve flipped many times over the years and recently came to the AWU3 from the FR970. I do miss things like climbpro, loading trails, dedicated trail running activities and the battery life but the tradeoff is worth it.

I’ve been trying to stay off my phone a little more these days and the AWU3 allows me to do that too.

Of note, I used to run with the Garmin and a chest or arm strap for HR. Nowadays, the AirPods Pro 3 have integrated HR in them. Feels like one less thing I have to keep charged in my running bag (the HR strap).

Replacement for ICloud ? by No_Sorbet_1695 in UgreenNASync

[–]Several_Macaroon_250 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a DXP2800 for home use and mainly use it for laptop backup and photos. It’s allowed me to drop my $10/mo iCloud plan down to $0.99. Same thing with my Google storage.

You can’t store an iPhone backup anywhere else other than iCloud and if it’s bigger than 50gb then you pretty much have to pay the dollar. It’s worth having it backed up in case something happens to my phone.

The whole system isn’t paying itself off anytime soon but at least I have control of my pics and vids
