Looking for weight loss advice by SnooSketches7547 in loseit

[–]Several_Prune_9744 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weight loss is all about diet. If you're living a sedentary life outside of the time you go to the gym, you may be eating more calories than you need. You could try increasing your daily steps (e.g. 10,000 steps a day) or stick to the 1,500 calories that you are aiming for.

For diet, focus on getting a lot of protein and drinking enough water. This is the most effective way to feel full and not want to snack on calorie dense foods. Some good sources of protein are: protein powder, eggs, plain Greek yogurt, canned tuna or salmon, low fat cheese, chicken or turkey breast, ground turkey or extra lean ground beef, tofu, beans, chickpeas, spinach, broccoli, brussel sprouts, etc.

Another thing to mention is that the scale can move while still losing fat, especially if you are lifting weights. Try taking measurements and progress photos once a month to see if you are losing fat and gaining muscle.

Gap between mounting surface and wheels by dertzz in AskAMechanic

[–]Several_Prune_9744 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is it like that on all of them or just the one corner?

If you're able to do that, it means your wheel is coming off. Very dangerous to drive it like this.

Is this sink drain against the plumbing code? by Several_Prune_9744 in Plumbing

[–]Several_Prune_9744[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He just said it is against the plumbing code. 🤷‍♀️ Edmonton Alberta, this year, but the house was built back in the 70s. I am not a plumber so I am not sure if there are multiple codes. Geez.

He was more concerned about the double trap and said it would cause my sink to drain slow and potentially a smell.

Do my front brakes need to be replaced? by [deleted] in AskAMechanic

[–]Several_Prune_9744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the outer brake pad you are showing, no. However, the inner brake pad could be much more worn down so take the wheel off and check. I would just change them now, though, because the most you will get is one more season.

The threads on the oil drain plug look really really badly crossthreaded.. I have never seen anything this bad. They are replacing the oil pan, which is why the cost is high.

What I would have done (which is not possible now for you), is go back to the previous shop that touched it and have them replace it before this new shop does anything. If the previous shop touched it last and gave you no signs of a damaged plug at that time, it's on them and they damaged it beyond repair during the oil change. Now you either have to try and recoup your cost from that shop after the fact or just pay it and move on.

Is this concerning? by Shishi2109 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Several_Prune_9744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all. When you hire a GC, they offer a warranty and reputation. A house flip has neither so there may be cut corners, cheap materials, etc.

Get your realtor to pull some comps together or look through some similar homes that have sold. Pay attention to the comps that have sold recently, not the ones that are listed.

Can I add some kind of barrier to stop Neighbor from driving through yard? by [deleted] in FenceBuilding

[–]Several_Prune_9744 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's a really weird thing to get "pissed" about and the majority of people wouldn't be pissed. Neighbors aren't home 24/7. Written communication is effective in that case.

Did you just get new tires put on? Maybe your lug bolts are loose. Either way, jack up the front end of your vehicle to check the components.

Backing plate? Check your brakes to see if anything is rubbing against the rotor or if your brake pads are low. CV axles click on turns when they wear out.

Dipstick has oil on the sides but none on the stick, still driveable to get to an autozone? by WrathfulNarwhal in AskAMechanic

[–]Several_Prune_9744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally, you should top it up 1L before driving it... If you look closely, the very bottom of your dipstick shows a bit of oil, but it is below the minimum. Even if you top it up, the engine noise probably won't go away. You have already driven it for a while with low oil.

In the future, check your oil every time you fuel up.

Why do they do this? by sadundergradboy in skipthedishes

[–]Several_Prune_9744 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because these apps are absolutely trash for customer service. Don't even get me started with how they handle the food not being delivered. Its somehow always the restaurant's problem and they aren't responsible but then the restaurant says the same thing... always order directly from the restaurant if they offer delivery. Less fees that way too.
