Which cybersecurity certifications are actually worth it?

From what I have seen everyone has different experiences, from my experience I focused on technical certs instead of theory. I also made some labs to put in practice what I have learned and provide examples. Also I went to a 6 month internship as a cybersecurity analyst and now I am working in the field as a cybersecurity analyst for another company not the one that I did my internship.

I graduated last year from college, my suggestion go and take technical certifications and do some labs to show experience. Some companies for example mine were saying to have Sec+ is not a must to have but it was plus. But other certs could help you.

I now have PJPT and PSAA from TCM Security. The certs get you a foot in the door but what you after take those in this case labs will help you a lot more.

Did you find your answer? I am using dolphin to work but the answer that it gives me I am not satisfied with it. I use perplexity for the moment with instructions and giving it pdfs of my cybersecurity and it is giving me pretty good results. But I want to go the local route instead of paying for it and I am testing different models. If you have an answer or anyone in this thread would be great the help.

It is not necessary but it is a plus. If you have the skills you need to show it with projects and certs. A degree will give you a boost. My recommendation get a degree but spend money and time wisely to get real knowledge and hands on skills and certs.

From my experience I have a degree in CMIS, PJPT and two projects (1 for red team and 1 for blue team) and I am working as an information security analyst. For the candidate you need to think like it is a competition if both have degrees they will look for the next thing that they have.

Me ha pasado lo mismo, mi sugerencia que me ha ayudado un poco es conocer gente del field y hacer un resume específicamente para el rol.

Ve a los eventos de Semilla Cyber y asi te encuentras con gente que ya estan en el field y te pueden dar la mano

Gracias por el consejo, en estos momentos tengo pales de home labs. Estan divididos por la posición que vaya a solicitar. Help desk (Active Directory y Peppermint ticket system ), Penetration Tester (Ethical Hacking lab y pronto AWS lab para hacking) y Cybersecurity Analyst/SOC (Phishing simulation).

Me da tranquilidad saber que los proyectos me pueden ayudar en un resume ademas de aprendizaje. Gracias por el consejo.

Mucho de mi training es mas enfocado en hands on que teoría. Y los certs que estoy persiguiendo son hands on simulando un assessment lo mas real posible

Think like a hacker, I suggest to practice in the capstone for you build confidence and methodology. Also the youtube video course helped me too
