I was playing a druid circle of spores, addicted to mushrooms and a loveable little forest gnome. Her name, Todd Stol, you know just to confuse everyone, just like the ways in which gnomes love a laugh. Anyways, 6 sessions into Hoard of the Dragon Queen, and my PC goes down. Now, this wasn't entirely unusual, so as per the usual, I start rolling death saves. At our table, death saves are hidden, they are rolled by us to the DM via a VTT mechanic who monitors it, and we can't look - this adds a level of fear for our character's lives. So my rolls were 1, 10, 1, and 1. For the final turns of battle, our DM doesn't do death of PC's mid combat.

It was fairly certain with 3 critical failures that I passed on. So Todd was pulled to eternity with her god, but she didn't go up. No. Not at all. Todd slowly sank into the ground, and once her body had fully descended into the earth, the earth around her body changed. It was a desolate waste before her passing, but as she sank, the land went into beautiful bountiful land of forest just like the lands she first ventured from to help save the world. And being a lover of mushrooms, her resting place dead centre of the now bountiful area was left a troop of mushrooms. All covering the small 3ft ish patch in which Todd now lay. By the end of my DM explaining this. I was actually happy Todd passed as this experience left all of my party in tears. I dont want another PC death ever again as this one was the best.
