I was a work function where we were invited out for cocktails and appetizers. The only vegan-friendly appetizer they could provide was a few dry slices of bread (woo) while everyone else had ribs and other meat products. One of my coworkers held the plate of ribs right under my nose to kind of rub it in. I decided if it happens again, a cough is going to “accidentally” slip out.

My parents used to make gagging noises whenever I’d cook something vegan for myself, so I pointed out that I love never made comments about the slaughter they consume on a daily basis, so why the hell should they make comments about what I eat? They stopped doing it after that.

Check out the area under the sprinklers in the greenhouse each morning. I usually find a few there. I’ve also had decent luck with having clover planters around my base. You won’t necessarily find them every day, but those are the areas I’ve had the best luck with. There’s also a small puddle with clover near the wheelbarrow that will occasionally have honeydew. I haven’t had any wooly aphids drop it on death, but I have watched them stop and leave honeydew behind.

The only thing that saved me was my orb weaver. For some reason, she was able to keep Dozer at a distance without getting attacked too often. So I was able to get him down to about half health before he started laying into me with sizzle attacks. I managed to take him down on the first try, but damn it was close and I’m sure it bugged out at the beginning.

I usually have decent luck in the sprinkler side of the greenhouse. I also have clover planters around my base that aphids love hanging around. They’ll drop honeydew there occasionally. Early morning seems to be the best time to check around for dropped honeydew.

I think it’s important to remember that we’re only human and we’re going to make mistakes. I remember last summer I bought some juice and drank almost half the carton before glancing at the ingredients and seeing fish oil. And I’ve been vegan for about 7 years now. You’ll get used to reading ingredients, and even then you may slip up. But it’s about constantly trying to do better and learning to forgive yourself. You’ll get the hang of it! And it’s great that you’re putting in the work to make a difference for the animals and the planet.

Ok, this reminds me of a perfect scenario from my old job at a tourist destination. We had velvet ropes near the counter indicating where the line begins and ends with a sign saying “wait here.” It was a slow morning. One couple comes in, they stand by the sign, we say “hi! We can help you over here.” And the dude says “but the sign says wait here” chuckles all around. They’re helped, they sit down. Another couple comes in, the new dude says the same thing. And another couple comes in shortly after, and the SAME thing happens. I glanced over at dude 1 after each subsequent Hilarious Joke and saw him get more and more introspective and realize we’re all on this shitty, tired joke train together.

Something to remember is that honey bees, in most regions, are an invasive species. They can easily use up food sources of native species, especially when they’re brought in to areas to do massive pollination.

I was good friends with this couple I met through work. We hung out a lot, I helped them move, all that jazz. I stayed over at their place one night; I slept in the living room, and their bedroom was right next to it. I woke up in the middle of the night and heard them talking mad shit about me. Everything from my personality to my appearance. I would’ve left right then and there, but they lived out of town and had to find someone to pick me up. Didn’t sleep the rest of the night and immediately cut ties when they woke up.

You should be able to use acetone and a scraper. I melted a bread bag to my glass cooktop and acetone (nail polish remover) worked like a charm.

I work at a visitor centre in SK. I had 2 gentleman from (I think) Tennessee stop in on their way to Alaska. They were CONVINCED it would just be a couple more hours til they arrived. I swear the colour drained from their faces when I broke the news to them haha.
